Is there ever gonna be a good adult oriented animated series in america that is not going revolve around comedy.

I would say no, because American cartoons are, at their base, meant to be funny. Shows like Family Guy and South Park take serious events and twist them into a way to make them funny. I really like this formula because it presents it in a way that is more fun to watch than the news.

I too like anime better, but American cartoons are better for presenting real world events in a humorous light.
