It is here! The annoucement of the May Member of the Month. I the Wooboo(Nomibot operated by magnificient Wooster, congratulate Maik on winner this pentulitimate month before the Summer Solstice.
The nominnating committee was near unanimous in its decision. GO Maik!
Here our his answers. Warning it is quite lengthy and entertaining.
Q1: What inspired you to join this forum? Why do you remain? Tell us about yourself.
Well, to start things off, my best friend told me about Naruto, so I decided to check it out. He recommended to me to watch the Japanese Subs, which I was reluctant to do at first. But, after watching the first few episodes subbed, I quickly got into it. I went around looking for a more official site so that I wouldn't have to worry about out of sync videos where the audio and video are off. I found this site, and watched the episodes. A few days later, I noticed the forum button and said to myself, "YES! I can talk to strangers about something that I like." I assumed at first that I probably wouldn't last a month here, but here I am, still. Why I'm still here? No idea, I just like it here.
Who am I? Well, I am a 21 year old male from Florida, and my name is Michael. I like imagination, fiction, and generally pay little to no attention to reality. Mainly cause I choose to avoid society and government, because they try to tell me how to run my life, and I think I do a pretty damn good job at that on my own. I've heard that I am a coward for not wanting to mingle for society, but oh well. As far as I'm concerned, there's nothing that requires me to blend in, and I'd rather be frowned upon than be someone I'm not. I'm a Christian actually, and by my beliefs, as long as I have a good heart, nothing else matters. I do like to give my two cents on practically every subject however. And when I get to speaking on said subjects, I have a tendency to ramble. I'm also a very open person.
I want to be a writer one day, I like to use my imagination and creativity to create new worlds, and new realities. People have told me I should look more at reality, but hey, I do look at reality. My imaginary worlds include things I have seen in reality. War, conflict, pain, suffering, peace, misunderstandings. I believe that my best friend as a writer, is to be able to catch a reader off guard. To make a reader wonder what I'm going to write next, and pull something surprising out for twists. Another thing I take pride in is my ability to develop characters. The more characters I can get involved with the story, the more characters I can control at once, the more accomplished I feel. I have considered becoming a publisher, director and game designer on top of that. I figure if I can run everything myself, I won't have people telling me where to hold back on my stories, and that I will have an easier time striking deals to get things done.
I write about many things. My main project right now is a six part novel. I have finished the first book already, which is entitled "The Reaper". It is a fairly basic story that I believe is very well described, and would put the reader on the edge of their seat. It's not over the top, but I feel that the insane parts of the story are meant to be thrown in more at the ending. I am in the midst of the second part of my novel, working on the book "Sinister Ambition". Which delves a little more into the world that I've creative, but still does not go all out over the top. The final four books, I have planned to name, "Decadence", "Eternal Serpentine", "Fiery Divergence" and "Immortal Culmination". I will probably keep those names, but may change "Fiery Divergence".
On my ACTs, I ranked in the top 2% in the United States in writing. In my opinion, I feel as though my writing skills have only strengthened since then. Considering I was also writing nonfiction as well, I felt that was a weak point for my writing. Based on my IQ scores, I also ranked in the top 1% in the world in Intelligence. Though, such a numer can only say so much. You still need wits and common sense to achieve higher intelligence. I was a straight A student when I did my homework, and even slacking off, I made the honor roll in all but one nine weeks in my school life. Though, I probably wouldn't have slacked off so much, if the subjects were actually challenging or interesting.
I love sports and games. Any kind of sports or games. I especially like baseball and hockey. My favorite teams are the Tampa Bay Rays and the Tampa Bay Lightning. My favorite video game is the Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. I like music, television and movies as well. My favorite band changes frequently, but right now, it's Alter Bridge or Crossfade. My favorite song, I don't even know what it is anymore. Favorite Television Show has always been That '70s Show, and Futurama has been my second favorite forever. My favorite movies are Sweeney Todd and Bridge to Terabithia. I would also give an honorable mention to Little Big League. I also do not drink, smoke or do drugs. I'm straight edge. There's more to me, but I'll leave it at that. I'll tell you more for a Klondike Bar.
Q2: Who is your favorite Naruto character and why?
I have two favorites, Gaara and Kabuto. I'll talk about Kabuto first.
Kabuto. I like the character Kishi has written for Kabuto. He is one of, and maybe the only character in the series, who is still mysterious. What is he going to do next? Who is he? What is his goal? He has so many questions that can be answered, and I feel that Kishi has turned Kabuto into one of the more interesting characters in the series because of that. He has definitely not proven himself to be a protagonist, but he still, in my mind, has not really nailed down the role of being an antagonist either. There's so many questions I have about Kabuto, and Kishi could take his character in any direction, with the way he is written right now.
Another thing I love about Kabuto, is the way he studies his opponents. He is very intelligent in battle. I feel his intelligence rivals that of even Shikamaru Nara. He is like a human encylopedia of the characters in the Naruto world. Rivaling that of even Zetsu, who is known fo being a spy. He can manipulate people, make them believe him, or make them doubt him. He has fooled both Konoha and Orochimaru. He fooled Orochimaru by making even him question his intentions. Which just further shows that Kabuto is not an easy character to read. And if Kishi writes his character the way I think he should, Kabuto should never become easy to read. He messes with the mind, and I love that about him.
Even if he is outmatched in a battle, he can take control by exploiting an opponent's weakness. You can never assume that you have Kabuto beaten, because he truly is the kind of character that can pull out all the tricks. He is also a big reason I like medical jutsus as much as I do. He is just an amazingly strong character, I feel. His skills were said to rival Kakashi's, and Tsunade has remarked that his jutsu sense and sharpness, may have surpassed even her own.
My other favorite is Gaara, of the Sand. I have been a big fan of Gaara from the very beginning. His story, his powers, his personality, everything about him is just awesome, in my mind. I loved in the beginning, when he was a super bad guy, who wanted to kill everyone. He was such an interesting character, and the way he used his powers was completely badass. I went to MegaCon cosplaying as him once, he was just that awesome. He proved that he was worthy of being so highly hyped up in the Chuunin Exams.
After the Exams, his character just progressed well. While I still kind of prefer evil Gaara, I am pleased with the way he has turned out now. I have followed his character closely. Seeing him become a better person instead of just hearing about his history was good for him. And he has made like a complete turnaround now. Where he was a bloodthirsty beast before, he has now become a kind, compassionate, and loyal shinobi, who would risk his life for those he loves and cares about. He is worthy of his Kazekage title.
His will power has grown so much. He protected the entire Sand VIllage from destruction against Deidara, at the cost of losing his battle. He did it all because of Naruto, and the connection he felt in their fight. He truly believed he could become a better and more honorable person. He risked his life for people who questioned him, for people who didn't trust him, for people who resented him. Because they were his people. He is a very amazing character overall, and I look forward to seeing him progress further.
His battle skills are awesome as well. Using Sand for fighting, is very inventive, and the way he uses it, just makes it more awesome. He is completely cool and relaxed when he fights. He doesn't seem to fear any opponent. And his control of sand stayed great, even after losing the Shukaku. The only downside I see for Gaara, is that I felt he was downpowered from the Chuunin Exams to when he fought Deidara. Otherwise, he is a great character. He would be an even greater character if he had a Klondike Bar.
Q3: What do you think made you win the contest? Was it your friendship with people or just popularity? How will you deal with the inevitable backlash about MotM sucking up to you, and trouble88's and Bacon's sadness that Kreegah! failed yet again to qualify as a finalist? (Feel free to laugh merrily.)
Several reasons. I have a lot of friends and am pretty popular (as showed by the reputation numbers). But that's only the beginning of it, as good as a friend as I am to many people, and as much as I try to just blend in and converse with the members, I have also done a lot of stuff for this forum. Most of it pertaining to games. I'm not even going to attempt to be modest, I have done a lot of things that helped the forum get where it is today. I have appointed several FAIL members and moderators who have done great at what they do. I am one of the few, if not the only person, with the power to make things happen, that pays attention to the Role Plays. I give people the tools to get their games up and running. Which usually basically means giving them their own section to organize things together.
I also have ran several games in my time on here. In the past, many games were ran by Aurega and TheBlackChidori as well. But, I'm the last person on here is consistently making more games for the forum to have fun with. No offense intended to those running other projects like the Katekyo Hitman Reborn Roleplay and the Greatest Naruto Fight Ever contest, they have done well. But, even at the moment, I am running the Greater Naruto Character Ever 2011 Contest, the Off Topic League, and am the head of the War Council getting many projects running for the Battle Narrative System. I ran the entire Second Forum Ninja Tournament, at least storyline wise. I did most of the RPing, and had the War Council help with judging. Snowy Owl was a great help to me when I got tired out and she ran the final RP round.
I actually planned on putting in a little extra, but I felt the SFNT's time has reached a good ending point. And honestly, I was just ready to relax a bit. I have also now written the basic idea for the next story arc, and have put together some stuff for the Chuunin Exams for when they start running. Aside from that, I am pretty much everywhere and put in my two cents on everything that pertains to this forum. From the reputation system to minor forum tweaks. I always try to give a deeper look at what doing certain things could intel. And, even if it's decided to go along with whatever it is, I feel my input at least sparks some thought, and sometimes helps people come up with ideas to make things better.
I have been here for two years, I made the second forum village. Yes, it was the second, the Light Village was made before mine. I took a sabbatical at the beginning of my forum life. Even in that month of being here, I had already become a temp mod and was added to the War Council, granted I did take that sabbatical and lost those spots. But when I came back, I just kind of worked through everything and was eventually given the tools to help out as much as I wanted. And why do I do it? Because I enjoy it, I enjoy this forum, I like being here. I love our userbase, you are all awesome people. I just want you guys to have as much fun as I have making things for you all to do.
As far as the Kreegah! thing is concerned, I can't say he's not a good candidate. If the forums continue the way the have, I'll probably nominate him next month. That said, I deserved to win this month, so they can go eat hot dogs. Yes, HOT DOGS! Hmph! I'll nominate him twice for a Klondike Bar.
Q4: Do you have any suggestions on how to improve this forum?
Well, all of the improvements I would like, are pretty much impossible to do on this site. They would have to be brought up to Viz and approved. It's really hard to approve anything on here. I mean, really, I have ideas, but it's just not easy to do anything on here a lot of the time. I would like more forum skins, more avatars to choose from. There's just really not much that can be done that I haven't brought up already. However, if we ever do get another batch of avatars, it would be lovely to include Kabuto in it. I would also accept just having a Klondike Bar.
Q5: If you were an admin, what would be the first thing you'd change about the forum, and how would you handle the immense responsibilities greenie-meanies deal with every day?
Well, that pretty much brings out the same answer as before. What really can be done? Honestly, I would like to make posts count everywhere still. Though, I would want to increase the amount of posts you would need to gain a reputation power after doing so. Anything else I'd like to change, couldn't be done based on the copyright laws on the forum.
And if I was able to get on as much as I do, I'd probably just do what I already do. Unless there is like something else I have to do, then I guess I would have to do that too. I can handle responsibilities, they would be motivation for me. I would also do it for a Klondike Bar.
Q6: What do you like the most about the forum as it is now?
My favorite thing about this place, is the userbase. Unlike many other forums, you guys are very user friendly. There's very few people who really are jerks, and even those, they have mostly blended in as a part of the community. Members that the majority of this forum don't really like, are still considered a part of the forum. I love to play forum games on here too, it's fun to play. They could become a little less lazy and play the games quicker though, bakas! Maybe if I give them a Klondike Bar.
Q7: What do you think of the Naruto manga?
I think the Naruto manga is good. It has to be good for me to even read it at all. I'm not much of a reader. It's not hard to follow, and I can usually tell what's going on. Now, I do sort of like anime more, because I do sometimes get confused with what's going on. I like moving pictures. The Naruto manga is really good though. I don't read it weekly, I fall behind a lot. I tend to fall behind like 30-50 chapters and then catch up on it one night. The manga itself does not keep me interested in it enough for me to put in the effort to read it weekly. I did have one point where I read it weekly though, which was in the Five Kage Summit Arc. After Danzo died, I kind of started to fall behind again. It's a good manga, based on the fact I do stay interested in it enough to come back and read it later on. I would read more often for a Klondike Bar.
Q8: What do you think of the Naruto anime? Subbed or Dubbed?
Now the anime, I really like it, when it's actually telling the story. It is similar to the manga for me however, as I will fall behind on it and catch up later, unless I really like an arc. Much like in the manga, I really have been into the Five Kage Summit Arc, and watch it weekly. Before this arc, I hadn't watched weekly episodes since the Itachi Pursuit Arc. The Itachi Pursuit Arc is my second favorite arc in the series, behind the FIve Kage Summit. I also really like the Chuunin Exams and Sasuke Retrieval Arcs. However, there is one thing I do not like about the manga. The fillers have a tendency of being too long. It would be different if they could keep my interest, but they seem to drag on, and on, and on. Especially the Three Tails Arc which kept me so uninterested that I wound out not watching for about a half of a year. It wasn't really the arc either, it just was too slow paced. I prefer shorter fillers, like what is done in One Piece.
As for subbed or dubbed, I normally prefer subbed. The Japanese seiyus, seem to put more emotion and effort into their voice overs. The characters feel real. They have the voices to make those over the top anime reactions that I enjoy so much. That's not so much true with the dub. I mean, they can show emotion too, but they just don't connect me to the show as well as the japanese voices. Also, subbed is usually uncut too. I like dubs because if it's subbed, I can get my mom and sister to watch too. I wonder if they will watch for a Klondike Bar.
Q9: What is your opinion of the Naruto franchise in general?
The series itself is pretty good. It keeps me interested enough to continue reading or watching it. But, doesn't keep me interested enough to call it my favorite anime or manga ever. I think it could use more story, and more development of non-central characters. Sakura could use some more focus too. I like Sakura, but her character is neglected, and she's pretty much a carbon copy of Tsunade who is predictable as the tide. Of course, most of the females are neglected. I would have liked some development for characters who aren't Naruto or Sasuke. The big thing for me is, neither of the three main characters are super interesting. Naruto is pretty bland, and predictable, similar to Sakura, though I find Sakura a little less bland. I prefer Sasuke over both of them. Though, he is kind of predictable, he's not as bland. The series overall, is pretty good, but could use some tune ups. It could also become a little less predictable in general. Maybe Kishi would make it less predictable for a Klondike Bar.
Q10: Are there any other manga or anime you like to read or watch? What do you like the most about them?
Yes, I would say there is definitely more I like. Naruto isn't even my favorite. I have a total of over like 40 animes that I like to watch and a couple other mangas that I like to read. I'm not going to go in depth on all of them, but I will say a little bit about my five favorites.
One Piece is actually my favorite of all. The story is just in depth and creative. Eiichiro Oda doesn't leave loopholes, if you can think of a question, he's probably answered it or is going to answer it. He puts backstory into everything you want, and sometimes even into things you don't think about. Either way, his chapters are always interesting. His characters are awesome, the plot is great, the locations are cool. It's fun and intelligent at the same time. It makes you laugh, it makes you think, it churns your emotions. Eiichiro Oda's writing has just always been able to connect with me. Both in the anime and in the manga.
It's a pretty simple plot, Luffy wants to become King of the Pirates. But the amount of story, main story and back story put into it, makes the manga and anime my favorite. You can connect with characters, and there are plenty of characters. Oda writes some amazing, thought provoking quotes.
The World God Only Knows:
The World God Only Knows, is pretty unique and fun to read and watch. Keima Katsuragi, is a true gamer, he plays games all day, on his PFP. Which basically looks just like a PSP. He is a capturing god, and people ask him for help on games all the time. One day, he receives what he thinks is a challenge, but is actually a contract with a demon. Elsea De Lute Irma, a demon girl, becomes Keima's buddy and informs him of what the contract is about. He has to help Elsea capture loose souls, by taking the place inside girl's hearts. The girls all have certain problems, an emptiness in their hearts. He doesn't want to do it at first, until he finds out that he and Elsea will both lose their head if he fails to meet the conditions of the contract.
Keima uses his gaming knowledge from dating sims, to capture the girls. As the story moves on, it gets deeper and deeper. Going beyond the ideas of just a simple dating sim based story. The characters are interesting, the plot is great, and it's just a great story.
Ore no Imouto ga Konna ni Kawaii Wake ga Nai:
This is a great show, a different type of show. I haven't read it yet, but that's mainly cause I can't find it anywhere to read. The characters are interesting. The story is about a boy who hasn't spoke to his sister much in years, who finds out that she is an otaku. He tries to help her set herself up with a seperate life so that she can talk to people who like the stuff she likes, without being looked down on by her friends and father. Her father is an extreme anti-otaku person.
She is a frequenter of little sister erotic games, and is hinted at that she has a thing for her brother. Her brother, who is actually her brother, not a step brother, unlike in most other stories that hint at incest, but the characters are not blood related. Complications arrive later on, in various ways. But most of them, come up when the girl's friends and father start finding out about her secret life.
Elfen Lied is another one of my favorites. The story is about the diclonius race. This is a race characters with kitty-like ears, and invisible arms. They can be a very violent race, when they lose their temper, often killing people. A lot of that stems from prejudice from the government. The girl, Lucy, and the boy, Kohta, had pretty tough lives growing up. Kohta losing his sister, and Lucy growing up basically alone and tortured. The characters progress well, and the story is well written, with a nice twist at the end. The backstory is great. It's Rated Mature though, so if you can't handle mature topics, do not watch it or read it. The most mature subject is about a child molester.
Toradora is an amazing story, with awesome characters. Ryuuji and Taiga, are neighbors, Ryuuji is helpful and a good friend. Taiga has a tough exterior, but proves to have a soft spot throughout the story. Ryuuji and Taiga both like someone, who both happen to be their respective best friends, Yuusaku and Kushieda. So, they decide to make a deal to help each other win the heart of the one they are attracted to. This is a nice story with romance, comedy, and other things. That truly allows you to connect to the characters. This is a definitely something that everyone should see. There's not much more I can say about this without spoiling something.
Other good animes/mangas, include Yu Yu Hakusho, Hunter X Hunter, Yu-Gi-Oh!, Ranma 1/2, and another 30-40 animes/mangas that I like. I'll name more and tell you more stuff about them, for a Klondike Bar.
Q11: What are you planning on doing now?
Well, I'll just get back to doing what I usually do. Whatever I feel like doing. Which usually consists of relaxing on the forums, running contests, talking to friends. In the rest of my time, I will continue writing and makes plans for my novel, and maybe future books in the process. Other than that, I'll just be off the forum whenever I feel like, probably no more than usual. Usually to watch anime, play video games or just chill with my mom, sister and sister's boyfriend. I'll do more for a Klondike Bar.
Q12: Any message for the failed candidates?
You mean like, words of encouragement? Next month, you don't have to deal with being pitted against someone running many activities at a time. I'll give a more encouraging speech for a Klondike Bar.
Q13: If MotM manages to last long enough for a MotY, how would you fair as an alumni, and how would you best represent the regular members in this capacity?
First off, I had to fix some typos in that question. Just thought you oughta now. That said, I should fair better than most. As I said before, I do a lot on here, more than most. Not just that, but I also talk to people, give them advice, and provide my input in many subjects on here. I would represent that capacity. How exactly? By just doing what I do, why change a good thing? I would become even better for a Klondike Bar.
Q14: You've recently involved yourself in many frantic activities. Has all this affected your outside life, or do have great time management skill?
I haven't had much of an outside life since High School, so no, not really. I update then whenever I feel like it. I do still do stuff however. I still find things to do, mostly with the family members I live with. Usually bowling or going to the movies. When I get to see my dad, we usually go out and play baseball. I manage to do all that and run my contests. I'm pretty much free to do whatever I want, most of the time. As for time management, I can't say it's great, just like I said, I get to do whatever I want most of the time. Most of the time when I update things, I do it on a whim, I create new rules as I type, and new twists as I type. I don't pre plan much of anything. I would pre plan for a Klondike Bar.
Q15: narg and vizadmin die. You are promoted. How will SM and Rice handle this, especially considering VIZ now pays you more than they currently earn? Will Toma RNK and Aurega RageEnvy?
I thought in these job things that your coworkers didn't know how much you make. Oh well, I honestly don't see Rice or SM handling it badly. They seem like pretty cool people, and I think knowing me would make it easier to get along with me. Though, they probably would a little down with those deaths. Toma and Aurega have never really seemed the type to RageEnvy either. They are pretty chill usually. If they RageEnvyed, I'd give them a Klondike Bar.
Q16: Not a question. Rate the questionnaire on a scale of 0.090333721 to Par 20 (the Huskalox Quotient). Satisfied? Irritated? Nomibot is uncaring either way.
Well, Maikeru doesn't care about Nomibot either way. I hated the questions obviously, which is why my answers were less than five paragraphs in some of the questions. Nah, really though, I would say like a 16.437, just to choose a close random number. I would rate higher for a Klondike Bar.

To further the point, we are a social species because we are interdependent. You could count on your hand how many people in a millennium can get by with absolutely no help from anyone else ever. Yet we never work together. That's why ants will eventually bring us down.
