Spoiler This war is beyond pointless

Firstly, from a readers perspective the war is just boring. It's fanservice and nothing more. Take the latest chapter for example. We all knew Asuma was going to lose before they even started fighting, we all knew no one was to die from the alliance and every battle up to this point has been a play by play of a bad fanfic that I swear I have read before. Any basic writing class will tell you that in order for there to be tension and investment with characters you need to have actual risks for your cast. I have not once in this entire war worried about anyone from the alliance dying, as a matter infact all of my worry was whether or not the next sucker to get owned was going to be a villain I actually liked. I have no investment and feel no tension in these battles because Kishi has shown to only play it safe, he doesn't want to piss off fans and kill any of the good guys and has merely turned Naruto into a saga of mediocre fighting scenes.
Maybe the problem is that Naruto is written for kids who don't have perception skills or know how to analyze pattern behavior. Then again, I would rather not think the upcoming generation is that stupid, but that's a debate for another time.

On to my other point, and this one is from inside the Naruto universe. Is Mr. Swirl an idiot? I cannot even fathom why he would do something so stupid like this war. It's ridiculous. Pain on his own wiped the Leaf without even trying. It would be far more effective to not of declared open war, and have all these undead zombies attack the hidden villages one by one and decimate them to nothing. Think any of the villages could of stood up to Pain, Itachi and another 20+ legendary ninja? Not to mention the actual "army" part of his forces. Yeah I didn't think so. The whole war is just an excuse to have a bunch of fight scenes in a row because in all his glory, I simply cannot fathom why Mr. Swirl would want a giant warzone that we are currently being forced to sit through. One could argue it's his ego but I cannot imagine even he has an ego so big to be this stupid. This isn't some kind of genius idea requiring an IQ of 300, this is basic warfare. What he did was exactly what any real leader in his position would of considered suicidal and a complete waste of resources.

Chouji already did by Chouza declaring him worthy of being the 16th Head of the Akimichi Clan.

Ino-Shika-Cho have perfected their Teamwork and already will turn Legends for taking out Kinkaku.

Naruto and Sasuke will turn Legends.

The others will get their time as well.

I am thinking when the tailed beast get involved, someone will finally die.

As towards Madara Tobi, I think his plan is genius. Remember the goal is not to beat the Shinobi alliance on the battlefield not to mention at at this point it is all Kabuto forces as even white Zetsu was boosted by Kabuto.
No instead, Tobi wants Naruto and Killerbee. Why not distract nearly all the other ninja have them separate Naruto away from themselves and do an end run around to go get them.
Whereas in the Pain attack, Pain destroyed the village, but wouldn't even have seen Naruto if he did not return.

In other words, bring your enemy to you, it is much easier.

If Tobirama was that weak to lose to someone who got killed by them in like five seconds, then there is no reason to even care about it if the past generations were that weak. And no one will care, because this is Naruto, he'll do something even better and the others will be ignored.

You're looking at it as a reader.

If you look at it as being a story that, to these characters is real, then Vivi is right. Naruto may do something bigger and badder, but it doesn't change the fact that in story, it's a war, and in story, they accomplished a lot.

I am glad Hanzo got owned. He was only hyped to hype up Pain, who has always been a lame evil villain anyway. This could be even more said of the Kin-Gun bros. Their massive strength was a game of taboo. -_-
If we are going to have dross battle, lets let the battles be over and done with quick.

But that is the problem. Fictitious characters don't matter, the reader does.
Do you think we are going to care at all about the Kin-Gin bros two months from now? Not likely.

These battles don't leave the reader impress with anyone's skill to date. Thus, no matter how strong these villains are suppose to be, it leaves one feeling indifferent.

Compare this to the Danzo Sasuke battle and it is a completely different story. That was an amazing battle where the reader could really feel the strength of both combatants. While logically one knew Sasuke had to win, the outcome never felt certain regardless. That is what Kishi should be doing in this war, but he has failed miserably.

I think it's far easier when the only people left to oppose you are the two exact people you need, and you still have the majority if not all of your forces. All Mr. Swirl is doing now is wasting his resources, poor guy just doesn't understand that his super leet ninjas are nothing once they are put into a warzone scenario with the skipples rookies.

Mr. Swirl is just doing what every common bad guy does. I can't even count how many times badguys use this ploy, I expected better from him when he had such an overwhelming advantage from the start.

Actually, I'm pretty sure he's not doing any fanservice, as nearly nobody I know In real life even gives a damn about good people!

People loved Darth Vader, Luke was ok
People hated Anakin.... I reeeeeally hated him
People love Itachi, People still love Itachi, and are finding reasons to make him a villain again

Even if you could dare love some of the noobs that are getting screen time at the moment, its a very modest amount

I still think it's a little too early to judge this war. Kishi might just be struggling to find his feet a little with it, but I'm sure it will come good. The war could go on for a couple years; it could be too early to start killing off characters - I'm sure it will happen. Though I do agree, had a character been killed already, this war would have been much more interesting.
