When Kishi started Naruto do you think he planned on having the original Naruto as like a prequel, or do you think it just happened as he was writing?

I think it happens the way any story does, you have an initial idea and the more you work with it the more it evolves, I'm sure he had alot of specific ideas and things he wanted to drive towards, but I doubt he had everything planned out before hand.

I don't know the difference between weekly manga and normal fiction writing, but generally you have the most important events in a story worked out before you start writing. It's storyboard. J.K. Rowling had the most important aspects of Harry Potter, including

all worked through before she even began the first book. I know for a fact that Itachi's mission was in Masashi Kishimoto's mind at least 200 chapters before it became a part of the story. Whether he really planned on Sasuke leaving or not, I'm not sure, particularly since he didn't originally intend for Sasuke to be a character at all. However, there are things at least 100+ chapters in advance that hint that Sasuke may end up leaving the village. It was at least during the Chunin Exams that he decided Naruto would have a Part 2, most likely.

Do you have proof on the storyboard? I've been writing my own novel and didn't plan out the big final twist until I started writing the second book.

I think it just happened for him. Every time a series begins, it's thought out to a certain point. I don't think though he thought of having a part II until midway through the original series.

i think he just made it up along the way
and i also think he just needed time for the next good parts

i think that he had allot of information about naruto, but had to make things in between for it to make sense to readers. i think he had some sort of idea of making a next series, just not where to start at.

i think he pretty much planned the beginning and ending, but had to do things in the middle to make it make sense
