"if a game doesent have online it can't be good"

frankly im getting tired of this assumption some gamers have. They have the idea that just because a game is single player only or only has local multiplayer it camt be good. I have heard SO MANY complaints about batman arkham city not supporting multiplayer. i could care less, if it's a good game, if it tells a good story, if you have fun, isn't that all that matters?now i like some online multiplayer. call of duty has an incredable comunity, but it's not a decideing factor into whether the game is good or not

I focus mainly on the story. Online play is just like an extra for me. Some games don't even work correctly online for me anyways due to the lack of gamers in my area... Hell, online play has only been out for three years at max and we have nowhere near perfected it. Clearly people who make these asusmptions are either Call of Duty geeks or people who have never experienced gaming before the creation of online play.

I don't mind online, but what is really starting to tick me off is how some games that would be awesome to play in local multiplayer...don't have local muliplayer. They only have multiplayer online. Sooo annoying!

For the sake of argument, I would disagree about this. How could a community form with online support? A game that has multiplayer allows players to taunt eachother, form teams, and compete against real people across the planet.

While I do agree that some games such as zelda and old school games like Evolution were epic a single player games, I still prefer a game with multiplayer support.

The thing I like with online is DLC, which is nice to be able to get. All in all though, I'm not huge on online. I'd rather play with local friends, who I know are alright in the head.

I know what the point is and I was giving an opinion that was different. It seems like the theme of the thread is how over rated online support is. :P I was merely disagreeing.

Fallout 3, Fallout New Vegas, Bioshock (1), Mass Effect 1 & 2.

All great games that didn't have any multiplayer at all.

if there were no online games i would be bored out of my mind its awesome how i can play games online with different people i dont even know. and playing online games with my friends of course.

I like having the option to go online and play with my friends but if a game dosent have online it dosent suck. Mass Effect 2 didnt have multiplayer and its my favorite game of all time.
