The US does actually not only do upkeep. For example, replacing F-16 with the F-22. Or developing missile defense such as the Aegis project, which by the way Japan uses. If Japan's military technology is so great, why are they using a US developed system? And again you fail to realize how much more money the US spends on its military compared to the pittance other countries with few exceptions do.

You say China will become the top military power in the 21 century. That is likely incorrect. While its economy will at one point the largest this century, it's military might will not. Of course, China will always have the numbers advantage, excepting perhaps India, their military equipment is limited by the fact of the 100's of millions of poor that the China needs to take care of. Not to mention, China is likely to be beset ethnic and class strife as the expansion of it's economy slows. Finally, the graying of China will leave with young citizens to staff it's army and leave it taking care of its old.

I won't even bother listening to such stupid and misguided comments anymore. In my next thread I may have to do one thing more clearly: USA is a bad country and doesn't deserve to exist! Any power they have illusioned their citizens with is a lie. Any just actions they are doing is a lie. Terrorists, nazists and communists are no threats to the world, they are just followers of respectable ideologies. As long as USA exist as a nation, there can be no peace or happiness in this world. That is why I have dedicated my life to destroy it.

He goes to a forum that is hosted in the US, where most of the people on the forum are US citizens.

He then rants about how Sweden is the ultimate land of happiness, equality, and awesomeness, and how the US is the antichrist. He also rants about how Sweden's Military is the most epic and powerful force on the planet, and the US's is the equivalent of a marshmallow gun.

Does he honestly expect any of the US citizens that make up the majority of this forum to agree withnot hate him when he says things like this?

Yes, I am sure I only know less than half the atrocities committed by the Nazis and communists. Yes, purification of people they did not like, and a failed economic system. The Austrian school, a vastly superior economic system, was forced out by the Nazis.

That is not how communism works. It takes away from the Middle class and the rich gives nothing to the poor and has few leaders receiving all the "redistribution." Also, it involves price controls, which always fail to work because of the vast amounts of data. Two former Soviet leaders who worked on setting the prices in the former USSR work a book on the subject. It is impossible to do, and forces limiting section of all goods even so. That's why in the old Soviet block every one work dingy grays and blues. It was impossible to figure out how much clothes to make for everyone in the country; there was no way to add color to the mix.

The US is where it serves its strategic interests, yes, but only by the leave of the countries it is stationed in. For example, Iraqi prime minister Maliki does not want to continue the US status of force agreement in Iraq. Sure the US will try to convince him to continue it, but if it fails US troops will leave.

The US does not receive oil from Iraq. The majority of our oil is produced here. The order of import of oil is from Canada, Mexico and Venezuela. We recieve a tiny amunt from Saudi Arabia. Most of the oil in the Middle East goes to Europe and China. It is why Europe did not want to invade Iraq, many of the countries have lucrative oils deal with Saddam Hussein especially France. Although, most countries were not that bad.

China is the country that exploits other countries for oil. Throughout Africa, China props up murderous and/or corrupt dictators to deal with oil often with little environmental protection. There is a time and place for realpolitik, but China does not care at all about the people if it can get oil.

But this has gone way beyond the point of your thesis. We are talking about military. Even if you hate the US and want to destroy it, why willful blindness about its military might? Ignorance will not help you defeat it. The US rules because of its superior economic model, ingenuity, and state-of-art military. You seems to want to suggest other militaries are superior already, so they can defeat the US. That is not the case. If you want Sweden to defeat the US you should form a party that requires military spending to increase ten-fold. That would be productive action if your goal is military supremacy.

Still we are far removed from the topic at hand. India does indeed have a pretty good army and navy. even if they have no aircraft carriers. Japan's navy is impressive compared to must countries. Egypt not so much, but it is pretty good land force and maybe one of the best armies in the Arab world. Although today that might be Hezbollah. The only European armies of note are England, France, and Germany in that order.

Oppress the people through fear of course. That is what all communist countries have done. And now their are no communist countries except two, Cuba and North Korea, the basket cases of the world. The leaders of the un-free states, mainly China, have decided that forms of capitalism can be useful for their economies even if they still repress their people's freedoms and lives.
