im not sure. im suprised u remembered that itachi gave him a power though. most ppl i have talked 2 have no idea wat im talking bout when i mention that lol. anyway, im thinking that watever that power is, he will use it against sasuke and might accidently kill him with it.

Thank you, I think it has to do something about the mangekyo sharingan. It is also supposed to do some damage to naruto, because he said "I hope you never have to use it though". I think it could be some sort of mangekyo technique, he transfered onto Naruto. It is possible because he did the same to Sasuke, true Naruto does not have the Sharingan, so that might be why Itachi said it will damage him(possibly blind the eye that he uses it with)
It could also be a way to control the Nine-Tails(many say that), but even I think this theory is way off, also I have an another theory regarding Pain(spoilers), in the town book store, it is name Shippuden Madara and Pain. Please read it.....

How do you know that when he said "I hope you never have to use it" he meant that it would hurt him. I'm guessing that it will react to any Mangekyou Sharingan he sees, including

, so he gave it to Naruto as a way to protect the only other person he was aware of that would protect Sasuke like a brother.

Also, he was talking to Naruto about if he could fight Sasuke to protect the village, this hints that he thought there was a possibility that Madara would survive the trap he was going to set in Sasuke's eyes. That would mean he also knew that it was possible that Madara would get Sasuke to do his bidding and destroy the Leaf. So by saying "I hope you never have to use this." he meant that because it would mean the destruction of his only brother.

If it has anything to do with seeing another Sharingan we may see it soon if Madara intervenes with Naruto and Pain like I think he will.

thats one of the big reasons he died cause he gave that power to naruto and its probably gonna use ti against sasuke

1. Itachi Said that he gave naruto some of HIS Power, What other power does itachi have.
2. Itachi Knew that Naruto thought of Sasuke as a Brother
3. Itachi found a way to give sasuke his power while his eyes still reained it as well
4. Itachi wants sasuke to be safe and happy no matter what
5. Itachi would want someone to take his place as sasuke's brother and naruto is the only one who makes sense
6. Itach has proven by giving sasuke his power that he has found a way to transfer his power to others so why not naruto as well

I don't think Itachi gave Naruto his Sharingan powers mainly because it would be useless to Naruto. Naruto doesn't need the Mangekyou, and to a non-Uchiha, the Mangekyou would do more harm than good.

I think Itachi gave Naruto a counter to his own eyes, sort of a safeguard to keep his eyes from awakening the Mangekyou if they were used against Naruto. I think this because Itachi gave Sasuke the Mangekyou Sharingan as a precaution against Madara, but Itachi would have taken extra steps just in case Sasuke implanted his eyes to awaken the Eternal Mangekyou.

So Itachi's gift is possibly a way to seal the Mangekyou Sharingan in his eyes if they are used against Naruto. And I interpreted Itachi saying "I hope you never have to use [my power]" to mean that he hoped Sasuke wouldn't turn down the path of darkness, in which case, a confrontation would be inevitable.

I think it is some sort of power that can stop Sasuke. Something that can stop Sasuke if he attacks the Leaf Village. I forget exactly what Itachi said to Naruto, but from what he said, that's what I was lead to believe Itachi's gift was.
