Meh whatever. He thinks Toonami can do no wrong even though they aired more edited dubs than any other block including 4Kids Saturday morning bocks.

Granted I don't think any of those dubs (except the 4Kids ones that aired on it) were poorly handled per say but neither is Naruto Shippuden on DXD.

Exactly, be grateful it's on TV in the first place, and at a viewable time. If it were on [adult swim], I'm not sure it would pull in as good of ratings as it does on Disney XD. In Japan, many anime (A lot actually) airs really late at night, like at 3:00 AM. That's probably one reason why such shows don't get as good of ratings as the stuff that airs earlier in the day there.

First,parents could all of a sudden notice there kids watching it. Second,kids don't know any better so they end up watching someone not for there age. Have you heard anything about the news a few months ago that there was a school where 2nd graders were having sex during class? Some of them were having ORAL sex. Though it's most likely due to poor parenting these days. Parents just aren't parenting like they used to, and all sorts of problems are around now. The rise of texting and driving is one big example.

They like give a kid an Xbox 360 with Xbox Live, and then it's like the Xbox 360 has become the parent.

Leaving some of the blood sure beats getting rid of all of it. Lighten up. Naruto's staying on DXD you may as well be happy when they improve on their editing practices from time to time.

I really don't think you seem to grasp that the DXD airing isn't for you or any of us that prefer to watch it uncut. It's for the kids that watched Naruto on Toonami. It makes lots of sense for Viz to market it to the kids that watched it on Toonami. But Viz is also smart enough to market it to teens and adults as well through various other means some of which are entirely free if you have an internet connection and the others are reasonably priced all things considered.

It's surprising what Naruto gets away with on DXD. Not quite as much as it did on CN eventually but still quite surprising. Especially lately. They clean up the blood it's not that big of a deal. It shouldn't ruin the enjoyment of the show for most people. The majority of the people who hate that DXD is airing it, are watching the Japanese version on Viz's website anyway.

You're an extreme case of minority here and anywhere on the internet so if your exact needs are not being met it shouldn't surprise you in the least. Because what you're asking for is not exactly the norm.

You're the odd case of a fan who refuses to watch the Japanese version and also refuses to watch the show on TV if it gets any edits. You're also the odd case of a fan who wont watch the show legally because you have to buy the uncut dub.

The reason why people keep telling you to buy the iTunes episodes or the DVDs if you want to watch the uncut dub is simple. Because that's what they tell anyone who isn't content with the DXD airings. They're not actually singling you out. That's what they tell EVERYONE. Most fans understand that and most fans are more than happy to pay a little for the dub or be content with the broadcast version.

Adult Swim either was outbid or didn't want Naruto and that's not going to change. Would it be great if every anime to air on US television aired uncut? It would be AWESOME but that's not reality and it most likely never will be because it never has been.

The best way to grow anime fandom is through kids not adults or even teenagers. However unlike years ago when big shows only got edited dubs and no uncut releases of any kind. Now we do get uncut releases so IMO edits on TV aren't a big deal because the original is right there for us to view it as well. It's just maybe not free or not as convenient. Sure beats the years WHEN WE DID NOT EVEN HAVE THAT OPTION.

Edited dubs aren't ideal when uncut dub airings are possible in some cases but edited dubs on DXD, Nicktoons, CN and yes even 4Kids Toonzai block still help grow anime fandom and that's pretty important right now.

So cut Viz some slack they're doing the best that they can with Naruto given their circumstances.

Yes, Dubs4life, you really need to give VIZ Media some slack. They're actually improving their anime department (Except when it comes to the packaging). Back in the days of Toonami, do you have any idea how many shows got only edited dub only releases and they never got finished?

-Hikaru no Go
-Zatch Bell! (Before the mangaka took the rights back from the Japanese manga publisher Shogakukan in a lawsuit.)

And there are many more. They actually now actually finish dubbing shows. I'd say they're better off now then they were back then. They would expect to air a show only on Toonami, and never finish the DVD releases because it would do well enough. But look at the backlash it caused. Fans are pissed off at them for never completing some shows, not releasing them in their entirity in bilingual uncut box sets, and never finishes the dub.

Uh, Cartoon Network over-promoted their stuff at times. Back in the day, I remembered seeing way too many Naruto, MAR, Prince of Tennis, and many more VIZ Media anime commercials. Back when Toonami was around, Cartoon Network didn't hate anime whatsoever. VIZ Media and CN had a very good relationship. It was because of that relationship Toonami Jetstream launched.

Though it's VIZ Media's fault. Even if the stuff aired on [adult swim], they still wouldn't have finished it. Heck, Monster, VIZ Media never finished that, and that had aired very recently.

Dude not even ONE of those shows suits Adult Swim. They're all tamer than Kekkaishi and that's saying something.

I enjoyed them on Jetstream though. Except Blue Dragon, never cared for that one myself. Thought it was laughable when it was briefly airing at 10PM on Toonami but I suppose that's no more laughable than hackjob One Piece airing in the same slot after nearly uncut Naruto.

MAR should have just aired on Toonami from the start. It would have done fine if they had done that. The brief airing of PoT and MAR on Toonami was lousy plan. Skipping episodes then going back to the beginning and trying a full run... They should have started from the beginning and aired them normally. Then they might have survived at least a bit longer. Not too surprised about kids not catching on to Prince of Tennis, it is... about tennis afterall. They should have got Eyeshield 21 on Toonami and not just Jetstream (though that dub was a hackjob I mean giving it a good dub as well). Football is a sport American kids actually care about.

Toonami really dropped the ball with MAR and PoT. Also Zatch Bell because they quit and never brought it back kind of like with Yu Yu Hakusho but at least that finished it's run somewhere. The track record for anime finishing their run on Toonami went to crap when it moved to Saturday nights. The only show on Saturday Toonami that got a full run on the block was Bo-Bobo. Not even Naruto can claim that.

Apparently just about everything didn't do well on Saturday Toonami in 2007 and 2008 except for Naruto. Makes sense they'd can everything else given that and it probably soured them on picking up any untested anime in the future. Which is why they picked up YGO 5Ds and later Beyblade and haven't gotten other anime besides those two, Pokemon and Bakugan. But it doens't explain why they didn't get Shippuden or Kai because both are plenty tested for success. Guess they were outbid or didn't want them because they didn't get merchandise rights for them. Darn shame but that's how it goes.

The manga here won't get a full release either. Volume 1 here is volume 11 in Japan. VIZ Media for some unknown reason (Their official statement was "Content.") skipped volumes 1-10.

Though personally I liked Toonami on Saturday nights more than on weekdays. Though if they had it on weekdays and Saturday nights, that would have been better.

I'm not sure overall if I preferred Toonami on Saturday night as opposed to weekdays. I liked all the various blocks of Toonami. Saturday mornings, Saturday afternoons, Saturday nights, the Midnight Run and weekday afternoons. But they also all had their ups and downs in programming choices. Saturday Toonami went almost entirely to crap in 2006 when they added in Pokemon and Yu-Gi-Oh! GX but things got better momentarily in 2007 then they lost two hours which sucked but were airing a pretty cool line-up with new Naruto, new One Piece (the FUNimation dub at last) and classic DBZ. It was just 2 hours a week but I loved it (probably because at the time I loved all those shows a whole lot).

If Toonami was revived I'd hope for weekdays but weekdays and a prime time block on Friday or Saturday would be best. If they did weekdays 5-7PM again then on Friday they could have an extended block 5-9PM. Not really sure what anime they'd be able to play on CN now maybe Fairy Tail or One Piece, I suppose they could play Pokemon but keep Bakugan and Beyblade away from Toonami. They are unworthy of airing on the greatest action block that ever existed.
