What do people think of "parents dying" in naruto?

we've seem to have alot of characters suffering during childhood. naruto grew up without parents, sasuke's parents were killed by his own brother, gaara's mother died with regrets of having gaara born (including his father), nagato's parents were killed by the leaf ninja.....etc.

what are your impressions on this kind of development?

well most parents aren't really involved in the story much, plus naruto's parents died in a cool way unlike other's where their parents simply die. the end

I think it's a pretty boring and repetitive way to make characters seem all the same. But hey, it worked out for everyone in this series.

You left out how Neji's dad was killed as well as Konan lets not forget Orochimaru and Iruka also Haku and Sasori.

Also not every miserable character gets their misery from their parents dying.

There is Rock Lee, Hinata, Choji, Tsunade, and Zaku.

Yeah the idea of dead parents have been used a lot in the media like Harry Potter, Lion Witch and the Wardrobe, Twilight, you name it.

Well it's not really the best thing for younger people to watch of course, since mostly younger children are attached to there parents, so may be affected by all the constant parent deaths within the series, if in all though, usually the parents always serve a purpose within there death, usually to help in some way, such as with Naruto... also at times, usually helps make the child stronger and able to bare the weight of the world on them, considering loosing a parent is the hardest thing a child can go through, any other deaths compared to that seem nothing to them... I think it's actually more used as a tool within Naruto, to help the children become stronger...

Well if you think about it, it makes sense.
They are ninja (assassins) and most of them died at war, or during missions, nothing out of the ordinary. The only team of ninja who seems to have evade that fate was the old Ino-Shika-Cho team, probably because they had Shikaku to keep them alive.

Actually, many ninja died, but the series only focus on the one who had children since.. the hero are children. And if you want to go in depth, there probably a tons of children who also lost their parents that we don't see, simply because they where not "strong enough" to overcome the pain.

While there's the obvious melodrama to the parents dying. It also forces the character to develop and mature (or rot away.) There's no parent to parent them so either the
character has to parent themselves and/or be parented by someone else like a master.

Why not make the character abused as a child? Or orphaned as a baby? Or have their Village killed off? Theres loads of ways a character could have a difficult childhood, instead of the whole " Ono! parants ded. peple be hatin on meh for bein difrun! " thing =/

Parents dying is old, the highest amount of misery even worse than that is being betrayed, rejected, or almost killed by ones own parents.

Admit it Kishi, it isnt that hard to think of way to make a character suffer other than reusing the same stuff.

Sasuke is only slightly unique, betrayal is a bit overused, maybe a scarring moment?
