Problems with substitution

So yeah pretty much what the title says. Any tips for helping me master the substitution jutsu? Sometimes I can do it pretty often in a match and sometimes maybe once or not even once.

If you somehow get yourself caught in your opponets combo then just mash the guard like if you don't substitute you will die.

Mashing isn't a good example, I time my Substitutions accurately and it has great effects.

If you aren't good at timing however I would suggest repeatedly pressing your Guard button quite a few times.

Try to substitute within the first few hits rather then leaving it until the combination has nearly ended.
