being gay's perfectly fine. there's nothing wrong with it and if you believe that you should also be fine with them defending people being gay. it's basically on the same topic.

I don't have a problem with people defending gay people. I have a problem with the way the thread creator is doing it. Asking a bunch of questions that make assumptions and have more to do with saying Heterosexuality has too many problems is hardly defending Homosexuality, at the very least not in a positive or productive way. From my point of view, anyways.

A: I took the questions seriously, not as something meant to take questions asked of Homosexuals and replace the word with Heterosexual. But, I usually take things to seriously. B: I already don't have any problem with gays, and besides that I'm not incredibly ignorant, so I've never asked anything like that of gay people or even wondered anything close. I can see how it's simply intended to take the stereotypes of gay people and reverse them in order to demonstrate how ridiculous they are, but I never had them and try hard not to consider them, so I hadn't realized that's what they were for. |

But I can't. They're too absurd. I would rather think they're for people to take seriously only to show how absurd it is for people to seriously ask those questions of Homosexuals, so I suppose they would be intended to be taken seriously, but I truly doubt they were asked seriously.

I don't think you're getting his point. As far as I can tell, he supports gays, but he finds the TS's methods offensive.

Yeah, pretty much. I wouldn't be upset if the OP made it more clear about what the intent was, because from my perspective, the way it's written now assumes that Heterosexuals in general actually think that of Homosexuals. I can understand it well enough, because some people are actually ignorant enough to think those things of gay people, and generally one wants to turn someone's own ignorance back at them when opposing what they do. But, me being a heterosexual (on top of being a serious person), I took those questions seriously and it actually gave me the impression the TS was ignorant. I still think part of it is that I tend to take things to seriously, but it was too unclear to me, especially when I originally saw this thread months ago. I actually got a bit upset over it.

There's nothing wrong with being homosexual "To you, your own".

My first post in here and after reading some responses, I'll give in my 2 cents:
Speaking as a gay person, I'll say homosexuality isn't wrong per se however, it IS a transgression. A transgression from the norm that is heterosexuality. Because, unless proven otherwise, heterosexuality IS the norm. But the main problem of today's Gays and Lesbians in their relationship with Straights is that too many of them try to copy Straights in a desperate attempt to be accepted as "normal". We're not supposed to do that. Our lifestyles are supposed to be an alternative with its own obligations and constraints, as well as its advantages. But, by trying to copy and imitate the Hetero lifestyle, we don't get accepted more, we just look ridiculous. Also, there is the representation the media hammer everyone with: our representation in the media is so over the top that people are always expecting to see a stereotype when they're introduced to a gay guy or a lesbian. Haven't you noticed? Before the Gay community was even acknowledged to exist, gays and lesbians did exist but were very discreet and most people didn't mind them. This overexposition to the spotlight wasn't beneficial, I believe. TL/DR: Nothing wrong with being gay/lesbian but you must understand that being decent and respectful of straights' decency will get you to be accepted better than thrusting your sexuality in their face. Also, if you're being bullied for being gay at school, only one solution: buff up. Yes. Remember: bullies are ;););););););), if you're confident enough to stand up to them and punch one in the face, most will think twice before picking on you. |
