Thread Allowance?

How come the creator of the thread, can't change the thread's title after submitting it? I'm aware of moving the thread, then changing it, then moving it back. But, why isn't there an option that allows the creator to change the thread title? The thread title can be changed by editing the original post and changing it from there, if managed to happen that way. Or another way, is adding the option in the thread tools. Instead of asking a Mod to change the title, why not grant the creator the ability to change it? Just like you have the ability to edit your own post, the creator can edit their own thread title after submitting it.
There are times where you might make a mistake in your thread title. Given the option, will solve that problem quickly. It's a suggestion. Any thoughts?

I agree with this. It gets annoying when you mess up the title and you can't change it. ;~;

And what about the ability to edit and delete polls too for this matter

Well, if people are given the option to edit titles like that, people would be changing it a lot more often or do stuff like, 'All the Cool people post here' then later change it to 'All the people who suck post here'. Polls rarely have to be edited. Polls can only be deleted by people with admin access, most super mods can't do it.

I remember Toma saying something about this a long time ago, he would need to make everyone super mods to grant this option to every user.

I think "Discipline to Users" must be implemented first before they implement that thing.

I want to go on record as predicting that by january 16th people will be abusing this and annoying most of us regularly.

~~Last time I checked I could change the tittle of my threads.~~ Any ways, you can all ready edit you title by the way you stated. So I don't see normal users needs more than that for thread edits.

Agrees. It's like drugs, evantually someone will start abusing it. Ruining it for all......

Stop being such pessimists, No one has thanked him for it. It is a good change. If people abuse it, then they'll have to deal with the consequence. Although Toma does make a point though.

You can move a thread, change the thread title, then moving it back to the original spot it was created. But, I don't see what's the point going through all the trouble just to do that. You might as well set up the option for it.

Me, I wont abuse it. Heck, I haven't even made any mistakes on my thread titles. This is only done so it can benefit those who are "not so well" in spelling and/or grammar. I might make a mistake eventually. Having the option will fix the problem in an instant. Punish those who do abuse it. I really don't see why any user would want to abuse something such as this. It's not that special. You abuse this, you might as well abuse the editing process on your posts. Like Err said, 7 days seem too much. It shouldn't take that long to realize a mistake or a better title for the thread. It might as well be a 1-2 day limit. I dont see the need for the second day, I'm just being nice so I added another day.

By making it a multistep process, it allowed people to fix it while discouraging abuse and leaving a trail admins can see when threads are changed.

This new way is not recorded.
