The thing about his being a spy for the Leaf isn't true. At least not to my knowledge. The rest is true.

In fact the third was the only one, who was against this order, or at least that was the way I understood it (that's why Itachi still recon that hiruzen was a great man and Shinobi)....for me Itachi wasn't evil, he was just confused between serve Konoha and defend it or go along with his clan, his family to seize power of the vilage...the advisors and Danzo used that confusion to their benefit...
