I like to incorporate manga, movie, and anime when it comes to this.

Articuno was taken down by Charizard(After years of training(technically even though Ash is still 10)). Drake's Dragonite is the strongest we've seen with feats, although imagining Lance's is a whole new game. I think Dragonite could solo one of the birds other than Articuno, possibly hold off Zapdos and Moltres on his own.

Birds are smart and wreaking havoc though, they're all gonna charge Mewtwo and he's going to be screwed since Lugia can block some of the Psychic attacks.

Alrighty then, here is my take on the battle. I'm taking into account the game stats ,the few anime episodes, and movie states.

Their powers and what not:

During the generation before Silver and Johto, Pyschic pokemon were nearly omnipotent and omniscient in battle because of mind reading. The stronger pokemon could read your mind, which makes mewtwo one of these pokemon. He also tossed a charging Rhydon like a rag doll, created machines that could capture other pokemon, and create a barrier while levitating with exceptional speed. His barrier which was his chief attack during his bout with Mew has yet to be broken.

Game: His stats were above the 3 original legendary birds. Not enough to solo all three,but they were when both pokemon had similar levels.

Movie 2:
The legendary birds were shown in movie to have the power to beat Lugia's haxed safeguard in a combined effort. Each one showed incredible speed, maneuverability, and no signs of fatigue.

Anime: Articuno fights with Charizard, but that match up is bad for that it because Ice is weak against fire.

Lugia:
Movie:
He had the power to hold off the three birds foran exceptional amount of time. His aero blaster destroyed that mechanical fortress in one shot. He was the only one who did not get caught by the poacher.

Game: Lugia is similar to Mewtwo in stats.

Dragonite:
Game: He has the highest attack stat,but his special attacks are weaker than Lugia's. He's pretty much on par with the legendary birds.

Anime: Dragonite was a tenacious beast during the Orange island championship. This pokemon took down Ash's charizard, Tauros, and squirtle all by itself.

movies: :/ He was really fast after delivering the message to Ash.

The fight:

Dragonite use's its speed and agility to tank Moltres' and Zapdos' attacks. Since Dragonite has is hyped to have the ability to circumnavigate the world in 16 hours, it can surely give them a run for their money. By utilizing ice beam and Safe gaurd(anime version), it can intercept many of the attacks taht are shot at him. While Dragonite has the ability to sue thunderbolt, I'd say it was more likely to use dragon claw to take moltres down. At this point, it would have to use outrage to hold the other two off. In the anime, Out rage allowed Dragonite to enter a state of pure zeal which allowed it to spam Hyper beam like it was nothing.

This would leave Lugia to face down Mewtwo. I'd say that these two and their respective barriers are equally matched. They each possess over kill attacks such as Shadow ball and aero blast. However, Dragonite would eventually go down due to fatigue while at least one remaining legendary bird comes in to tip the scales in lugia's favor.

While Mewtwo's barrier has never been defeated in battle by another pokemon as far as I know, barrier is chiefly used for physical attacks and opposing barriers. It doesn't guarantee him protection against two birds. :/

I'm sorry but how is taking down Squirtle a good feat?

Also with Charizard's typing, Dragonite beating it wasn't much of an accomplishment either.

And why would you even enter a Tournament with a Squirtle? Evolve it to a Blastoise before entering anything.

The anime has weird logic. If I recall,that little bugger beat a steelix. Dx

The charizard feat is good, considering the fact that it's 4 pokemon against one.
