He isn't my favorite, but that doesn't mean I dislike him. His kind of character isn't all that appealing to me. =\

There're better/more characters than him (Obviously), meaning that Naruto isn't always going to be liked, so him not being many people's favorite is normal.

I just put, "Yes, he's my favorite" because he almost is; he's my second-favorite character overall (after Hinata), and my favorite male character. He can irritate me sometimes, and sometimes his stupidity makes me cringe. But his work-hard, never-give-up positive attitude and his ability to bring out the better sides in people have really inspired me. Even after many years, I will not forget Naruto, nor will I forget Naruto Uzumaki!

For me, it is poor writing that makes me upset with his character. Nobody (meaning the writers) gives Naruto any credit in the original series!! Shadow clone jutsu's success rate in the original is probably 1/20. True, he usually wins out in a fight in the end, but that is because HE IS THE MAIN CHARACTER. He is supposed to win.

The best situation I can think of where Naruto is screwed over by the writing staff is during the Zabuza arc. He takes the poison out of his wound by stabbing himself in the hand. Then, he follows it up with an inspiring speech about never giving up, and I was fairly impressed with his determination (even if it was a bit melodramatic). However, Kakashi immediately replies, "Naruto uh, that was really cool how you took the poison out and all, but if you lose any more blood, you're going to die."

That killed the moment for me, and I think I lost all respect for his character right then and there. After all, the writers didn't seem to have much respect for him, either. Feel free to disagree, this is just my opinion.

i tend to stray away from the main character being my favorite especially in a show like this where there are so many other awesome characters i think my favorite character would have to be either pein or hidan pein's an animal and as for hidan i just love the grim reaper look and the scythe .
