Friggin amazing game.
Highly reccomend it Campaign is pretty linear but your free to screw around and do sidequests IIRC. Not as expansive as Skyrim or Borderlands of course. Online is soooo addicting.

I'm pretty clueless as to whats goin on in AC3, so can't help ya there.
And i never played AC1-AC2. Only Brotherhood and a chunk of Revelations. Whats going on essentially is this dude Desmond(main character) is using this computer simulaiton system to relive the pasts of his ancestors (the assasins Ezio, Altair, and I guess the new guy from AC3). Why he's reliving them, I don't remember, but its probably to learn secrets in order to defeat the Templar organization in the current day. (The bad guys) Not the best synopsis xD Are you getting AC3 or do you plan on starting from the beginning with AC1?

Whatever costs less.

No I can't tell you much myself, my brother has the first one, yet he's never bothered to play it, too lazy and saying, he never has enough time too, which so isn't the case completely, he could find time if he damn well wants, just doesn't.

That might be cause the first one is actually really boring and repetitive unlike its sequels.

I did play 1 and 2 so heres a summary:
Youre desmond miles. Some random bartender and you find yourself kidnapped by a company. The story is build on the assumption that your dna does not only carries your ancestors genes but their memories. You find out that you come from a long line of assasins. The company that kidnapped you has an machine the animus which allows you to access your ancestors memories in your Dna. The company seeks something within your ancestors memories which can control the world. (you slowly find out more as you play) So you experience your ancestors memories by playing through them essentially reliving your ancestors live to find the thing the company seeks. You will be spending the games time fighting against the templars the sworn enemies of the assasins. Scouting the beuatifull areas of the game through viewpoint and dozens and i mean dozens of side missions. Performing assasinations as side quests escaping from guard through running and hiding or taking them head on with your sword and throwing knives. And your targets from the main storyline which each unveal a piece of the puzzle before they die, scaling buildings and traveling from city to city while trying to remain undetected. And there are tons of sidemissions like eavesdropping, beating up unfaithfull husbands , interrogating people by beating them up for information and pickpocketing. The second game pretty does the same but with an different ancestor, more variation to the missions and side missions , a storyline that now ties in our real world history and overall much better gameplay And you find out that the batle between assasins and templars is still ongoing in current time. The story kind of develops in a conspiracy/illuminati type situation. I hope this sums it up without spoiling too much.

It's either gonna be a really freaking good game, or you will hate it. Just saying.
Gameplay is essentially free running roof jumping sword countering invincible god assassin. Story is OMGOFJGFDSIPGSYMBOLISMGODSAPPLES. Online is rather meh, not that addicting for me. Like I said, love it or don't.

Wouldn't know, though now he's thinking about getting three, so whether he does or not depends if I get to see it or even play it myself, lol.

Also in the beginning prefered altair to ezio as ezio merely does what hes told and has rather simple goals. But ezio kinda grew on me. Edit: Also the thrill off escaping is just better done in Ac1. Its way too easy in AC2 too just bulldozer anything and kill the guy without any sort of stelah and escape wthout anysort of stealth. I mean the hiding spots are the core of AC1 and are useless in AC2. AC2 was more fun to play but thats because its a sequeal. Overall AC2 doesnt really get that assasin stealth feel. Its more like GTA drop in like a storm ram murk everything in your way and 2 secs and your done or sometimes in skips to a cutscene sthraight after a kill. Idk escaping in AC1 actaully made my heart pound. AC2 certainly isnt as adrenaline inducing.

I think you should skip ACI if you do play Assassin's Creed. ACII sums it all up anyways, and you won't have to suffer through ACI. I didn't play ACI until after Brotherhood and I hated it. A friend of mine started off with ACI and kind of ruined the seires for himself. ACII was..I can't even explain my love for it. Everything after ACI is worth it.

^I'm starting a riot if that's true. ME3 ruined the whole potential that Mass Effect had. If Assassin's Creed is the same, I quit now.

It's like 9 bucks used. Everyone with a ps3 or xbox should experience it at least once
