I was watching the beginning of the sub, and I came across an episode where Deidara fought team Gai without any arms, in a tired state and with only a kunai in his mouth, while that being a clone and still managed to hold his own to a degree, now I'm not sure if this is filler or not, but if it isn't we will have to rethink his taijutsu capabilities.

He did encounter Team Guy, but the taijutsu fight itself is filler. The manga only shows Deidara dodging some of Tenten's shuriken and him being chased. He then proceeds to find his clay bird. So unfortunately, this isn't much of a feat.

Yeah, I mean Deidara's taijutsu isn't completely horrible.
When he was fighting Sasuke he showed some impressive reaction speed. But his real strength is really in his clay explosions.
