Why are Viz's release of other manga so slow?

I mean come on, you expect us to go to the store and buy manga?

My favorite manga, JoJo's Bizarre Adventure has over 80 volumes, Viz only released 14, I mean what the hell? The first release was in 2005, 5 years and only 14 volumes? Talk about slow? I would import from Japan but its too expensive.

On the other hand look at Naruto, 7 years of release and already 48 volumes.

Talk about being biased?

Viz... Viz... Viz...

You are pratically forcing us to read manga online, and now you plan to shut every site down. You guys are stupid to be honest.

Naruto is more popular here than Jojo.

Supply and Demand.

If more people bought Jojo they would probably speed up the process.

I don't get why the hell Viz only focus on advertising stuff about Naruto.

In my life I never seen any JJBA advertisements in the US, ever.

I know Naruto is more popular but if they advertise JJBA then it would get more popular as well.

Probably not. Anime and manga are not that popular in American. There is only so much one can buy.

One Piece is reasonably popular, but it's sales are dwarfed by Naruto in the States.

The important part to remember is that only sales matter.
It doesn't matter how Jojo fans there are if they don't buy Jojo.

Advertising is expensive by the way. It's really a gamble.

guys right now in Japan they are on Naruto volume 52 or 53 stateside we are on soon to be volume 49 which come out in Oct of this year so maybe that why Viz slow down on naruto so they won't get to far ahead of the Japanese manga now.

The reason is because Jojo isn't as popular. Naruto is one of viz meadias most popular mangas, (if not then then the most) so of course Naruto will come out at a fast rate. Naruto is advertised more because it makes them more money. If Jojo was advertised and still didn't sell much then they would be throwing money away.

THANK YOU! That's exactly what's been bugging me about this whole "shutting sites down" thing (even if I don't read JoJo). We're fine buying the series from them, but even in the best series they're always months behind Japan.

I totally agree. It's because of sites like OM that I actually got into JJBA, and I've bought pretty much every volume I've seen. If they didn't skip freaking Part 1 and 2 I would've bought those too, but nope, they did. It's a sad thing, they don't advertise it at all, despite being leagues above practically every popular Viz manga right now.

Naruto and Bleach can't possibly COMPARE to JJBA, but since nobody knows what the heck it is, people will never know that. I've heard the name a few times, but only online manga gave me the opportunity to try it out and allowed me to discover it was my favorite manga.

It annoys me how companies rant about how online manga is bad and prevents them from getting sales, but they never release the blasted manga for us to even consider buying. Heck, online manga is the only reason I've heard of so many series and actually liked them.

Has it ever said anywhere that viz specifically contacted OM?

The industry as a whole is cracking down, but I have not yet found any evidence that viz has been directly involved.

I ask because one of the main reasons I help out around here is viz's more relaxed corporate stance on these things. Any info people could provide would help.

I'm pretty sure Viz was listed as one of the companies that was teaming up with others to try and put an end to online manga from sources I have seen, although I can't be too sure.

Well Naruto and One Piece got a speed up in manga volume releases(SJ).

Other series like Pokemon Adventures(Viz Kids) and Rosario + Vampire(SJA) get/got manga releases every 2 months.

My sister once told me that getting the rights of publishing something is cheaper as time passes(don't know if it's true) so maybe that's why they're slow,to waste less money.
