Asuma Sarutobi vs Neji Hyuga

Neji. Asuma is a cool character but in terms of jutsu and close combat, Neji has him beat.

Don't use the data books, no one here will take you seriously. I used the same argument and even the mods said that we only use feats on this site. Besides it says Asuma's speed is equal to Sasuke's also.

How would it keep him at bay? If a punch could cause trouble for Rotation then why wouldn't a chakra knife just cut off Neji's arm?

Empty Palm makes things harder for Neji than for Asuma.

Gentle Fist can't kill what it can't hit.

If you're going to use the fallacious databooks then actually read them, Asuma and Neji both have a 4.5 so your speed argument here is garbage.

databooks cant be backed up with feats from the manga so they are pointless, and the BG strictly only uses manga feats anyways so take that poop outta here please.

As for the speed issue that you all present... I will agree that asuma did dodge alot of hidans attacks, because they became pretty perdictable to him. But also know that asuma had shikimarus shadow following hidan throughout the whole fight.

Try fighting someone slower than you, but at the same time have a shadow chasing you in which you have to divert your eyes from the enemy, to the ground. IMO it would make it ALOT harder to fight that person which shows how asuma probably does not have the same speed at hidan.

The shadows were semi problematic, but it's not like Shikamaru is that much of a threat. Honestly if Shikamaru lacked his intelligence he would basically be fodder, because his techniques are best suited for team situations, but even with teams his best use is his intelligence. If Shikamaru didn't learn Hidan's abilities then chances are he would have been nigh-useless.

Shikamaru's shadows aren't very fast either, Shikamaru always has to use tricks and strategies to catch even the slowest of opponents with it.

I understand what you're saying though, fighting off Asuma as well as dodging shadows is difficult. Even still, there were not spammed occasions in which both were done at once, and Hidan is faster than Asuma anyway.

yah I know that shikamarus jutsu etc are basically worthless XD its all in his brain rlly.

But even than whether or not if the shadow is fast or mid speed or even slow it will prove itself to be a nuisance in the battle showing how hidan would have to divert part of his attention and movements because of the shadow. Which basically means that hidan cant use his full FREE range of motion against asuma.

Pretty much, Shikamaru has always been known for intelligence rather than anything else.

That is true, Hidan had quite some trouble having to deal with both of those. Hidan definitely could have taken out Asuma more quickly if it was one-on-one but it's not like he would've curbstomped or anything, Asuma could've competed to an extent.

oh yah i agree with that too.. asuma could last against hidan for a decent amount of time before getting killed. Im just trying to get at the point that the shadow limited hidans movement, and speed somewhat.

as for the battle I would also say that asuma has a good chance against neji because of his ash cloud. his rotation, and his air palm cant push it all away, and theres a time interval between each rotation in which asuma could blow him to shreds. with nejiis low durability i would think that he would be swept away from one blast.

asumas knives have shown the capability of easily piercing through trees. why cant they pierce through an air palm into nejis heart again?

Where in the manga has Neji shown any speed feats that would reasonably allow him to kill Asuma with as much ease as you claim?

Nowhere, that's where.

Long period of time is unnecessary, Asuma kept up with Hidan long enough to show he is competent enough to kill Neji, and nobody has reasonably proven otherwise.
