I say illusionary safety is more important than liberty. Heck, I like having a piece of paper saying that I have the right to secure my house, rather than giving someone the liberty to invade my sanctum. xD

I don't see how giving someone more Liberty will result in safety.

Even Liberties are subject to the phrase, "too much". If you give people total freedom, you are giving people free reign to do as they please. Thus, you are endangering the individual and everyone around them.

Lol..if you are going to put it that way..
you do make an interesting argument. But safety will have it's limits aswell. One's safety will at 100% bear the cost of another's safety. Further, you are thinking liberty in a subjective view. Liberty could mean the political formation for a society..regulating the freedom that one may have. To ensure one's safety does not result in the cost of another. Liberty allows the distribution of safety in which a society enacts. Safety is just a singlar objective. |

So then, how much safety do you think is needed? How many specific liberties does one need to be safe?I know that you're referring to social liberties now,but those are half ass at best. Everything written is subject to interpretation; which means things need to be as specific as possible. If you give several liberties in the form of one written liberty.(Ex:the 10 th amendment)The power of interpretation can allow the governing power to manipulate it's meaning.
So in essence, you are saying that more of these social liberties will result in more individual safety. Yet, more liberties = more interpretation; which can end badly. So I am advocating essential freedoms over an increasing ammount.

lol. liberty is the only term between the both that can be interpreted.
How you do suggest we define safety? we cannot interpret safety in a overt manner that can be applied to society. Therefore liberty comes first..referring to my comment earlier about irony. Liberty as you said is interpreted. How can we achieve safety without intrepretation? and you said "So I am advocating essential freedoms over an increasing ammount". safety is not freedom...freedom is liberty in many sense. How can we have safety? if safety is the problem. one's safety is needed at the cost of another's safety. |

You are not grasping the concept of freedoms and the shackles of society. It was very apparent to the founding fathers that freedom cannot exist with restraint. You are saying that one's safety comes at the cost of anothers? Yes, and my survival comes at the cost of anothers;get over it.
You are narrow minded if you think more freedom will lead to a better world.

I think you should have freedom until the point where it can physically harm others or their property. You should be able to say anything and everything that's on your mind, irregardless of how others feel about it, but you shouldn't be able to physically hurt another person or the property of another.
Atleast that's my take on it. |

Im cerntainly coming from the point that they are separate from each other and therefore safety vs liberty is not a good topic. |

If I get the liberty to use guns, then it will definitely increase my feeling of safety. So I guess both the are equally important and feed on each other.

I don't understand a word you said. It just looks like a jumble of words.

A certain lack of punctuation and grammar skills does that, yes.
