[Vatanui AKA Pride]

Plot:
Durarara!! is about a number of unusual people who gather in Modern-Day Ikebukuro, a district of Tokyo, Japan-- a youth who seeks for a change to his mundane life, a hoodlum, a stalker denpa-type girl, a young man who deals in information just 'for fun', a black market doctor, a high-schooler obsessed with magic, as well as a headless rider who is an underworld courier dressed in black with a pitch black motorbike. These unusual people began and are involved in a set of abnormal stories that take place around the most dangerous people in Ikebukuro as well as a large colorless gang called Dollars. However, despite their twisted personalities, they still talk about love.

Celty Sturluson

A Dulluhan that hails from Ireland, she comes to Ikebukuro, Japan in search for her missing head. Also known as the "Headless Rider" and is an urban legend in Ikebukuro. While searching for the whereabouts of her head, she also works as an underworld porter. She lives with Shinra Kishitani, a black market doctor, and also possesses superhuman strength and also has the ability to control a shadow-like substance to form objects ranging from a scythe to chariot. Her chatroom username is Setton. Is a member of Dollars.

Mikado Ryugamine

Spoiler:

The primary male protagonist of the series, Mikado is a high-schooler who moves to Ikebukuro with the encouragement of his childhood best friend Kida Masaomi in order to search for an exit to his mundane life. Mikado is known for having moments when he truly speaks his mind, which is why Kida admires him highly. His chatroom username is Tanaka Taro. He is the only remaining creator of the infamous gang Dollars.

Shizuo Heiwajima

Spoiler:

A man normally dressed in sunglasses and a bartender suit. Although silent while not angered, Shizuo is however easily angered and as such while retaliate with superhuman strength. Known as one of the strongest men in Ikebukuro, Shizuo has a passion for hating Izaya Orihara, the information broker, and will often chase him down when seen. In battle, Shizuo will normally use superhuman parkour moves, a skill he obtained from years of hunting down Izaya. Nowadays, he works as a debt collector; he has a younger brother who is also a famous idol in Japan. Is a member of Dollars.

Izaya Orihara

Spoiler:

A young man in his early twenties who sells information for his own enjoyment. He claims to love the entire human race excluding long-time nemesis Shizuo Heiwajima, in which he usually shows his love by putting such humans in miserable conditions and observing their reactions. He had attending Raira Academy with Shizuo and Shinra; is a master of parkour and also extremely skilled with his switchblade knife. Izaya has two young sisters who are troublemakers. In chatrooms, his username is Kanra as he pretends to be a female. Is a member of Dollars and also is the mastermind of the story behind Durarara!!, orchestrating most of the events.

Kida Masaomi

Spoiler:

A resident of Ikebukuro for a couple of years and also Mikado Ryugamine's best friend, he encouraged Mikado to come to Ikebukuro. He is a womanizer, often attempting to pick up girls yet failing at it. His jokes are often lame and often fail; his online chatroom username is Bakyura. He was the leader of the color gang, the Yellow Scarves, and is forced to rejoin later in the series due to events orchestrated by Izaya Orihara. His girlfriend is Saki Mikajima. Is an inactive member of Dollars.

Anri Sonohana

Spoiler:

A bespectacled girl who attends the same school as Masaomi Kida and Mikado Ryugamine. Rather quiet and timid, but very close towards Kida and Mikado, she tends to enclose herself occasionally.
She is somewhat popular; Mikado seems to have a crush on her. Anri possesses the demon sword Saika, which gives her control over whoever it cuts as well as people wielding its 'daughter' swords.

Ironically, her online chatroom username is Saika.
