I kind of wouldn't really take him as the gambling type actually, heh.

He just really had a personality realization, that what and how he was caused everyone to not want to be around him, considering we could already see at times, he was actually feeling quite lonely and wanting to be recognized.

Well I can imagine him being this sem-famous person of a dark organization at least, like leading a mafia... I don't know.

Yeah, give Gaara a lot of credit considereing how he was able to persevere and climb the ranks and end up being something totaly different from how he was when he started.

Yeah he has that air of mystery about him, the darker part of him still, even though he's change. if given half the chance he might dabble within the darker side of this world..

Not to mention being one of the youngest, I would say, to achieve such a high rank..

It was because of the strength he had that got him so far, since he was suppose to be one of the strongest shinobi's in the sand village, at the time of the original chunin exams.. That's why that whole mission revolved around his participation at least.

Then again to, it was also the trump card or ace in the hole, with his Shukaku at that time, since it could do a fairly large amount of damage in a large space, within a short time..

Well either way he became Kazekage anyway. And he is a leader in the war. A general if I'm remembering correctly.

Yes, but you have to give him credit that he was able to figure out how to use the power and actually maintain it, although I haven't read/watched the Chunin exams for a long time so there was probably more too it.
