Lol I agree.

Pre-shippuden, Masashi seemed to have much more humor in the story than he does now probably because it has gotten so much more serious because they are older and have serious threats on all sides... O.O

Masashi Kishimoto does tend to do Naruto artwork where he excessively makes accesories or adds animals that woudln't reall apply in the story. Case in point, that eagle that would appear in some of the very early Naruto manga art. Maybe the turtle was one of the animals that was unnecesary for the story. I don't think that turtle even had a name.

I wish I remembered this more, because I just watched the episode where he appeared not too long ago. Hopefully we will see more characters that aren't getting much attention; use their summons(like Mr. Turtle whom I can't remember his name)

The turtle's name was Ninkame. ^^
And that turtle was only there to make Naruto seem like an idiot, and to make Gai's first entrance dynamically awesome.
