Inb part one it was great to be chuunin, and after the time skip, the only time it was mentioned was Homecoming, so in part 2, he's gonan stay Genin until he becomes Hokage.

But yea, this happens in a typical manga, just because something was important earlier on doesn't mean it will be important later. Of course the rankings still exist truthfully, but what importance it has to the story now beside being a Kage, if Kishimoto still care that much, he would actually paid attention to the rankings, it's not that he doesn't care, but it's irrevalent to the main plot.

Yes he would have to be a chunin to lead a group, but that being said, when will Naruto actually do that, Naruto is constantly involved with Akatsuki & Sasuke, his power already is far above anyone in Konoha, by time the Akatsuki is finally gone, he will be mature enough to be Hokage, as 1st Hokage said, he's likely to stay Genin & jump right to Hokage.

Yes Naruto is extremely powerful, I just feel like theres more to it than that. Naruto has soooo much energy it's hard to see him sitting down in the office and going through all that day to day stuff. Plus the fact I think it would be good character development watching Naruto grow into a leader as well.

Yes, toad is right. The only reason Naruto is not a chuunin is either he hasn;t got the time for it, what with trying to get Sasuke back and all. Or what I think is more correct is that Naruto has matured greatly since he left to train. At the point where he is now, he isn't concerned about his rank. To him thats just a title. What he wants is to protect the village, his friends, Sasuke, and rid the ninja world of hatred. It is unknown at this point if he even still has his goal to become hokage. To him, it may not ven be needed. The entire village knows that he is a hero who saved them. So thats my two cents on this. I really don't know if i'm right or wrong, who knows

Becoming the Hokage has been his main goal from the beginning of the series. He would always go on about becoming Hokage. Naruto is not the type to back down and forget his dreams.

Thats not entirely what I'mm trying to say, but also how could he become hokage if he says that both Sasuke and him will die together in their last battle?

now naruto has sort of put his dream of hokage on hold because of the whole sasuke and akatsuki but still he probably continue chasing his dream of becoming hokage despite being a genin because thats his ninja way

Yes exactly, I'm sure he hasn't given upon his dream, but because of chasing sasuke he has put it on the back burner. Another point is that through-out most of shippuuden, Naruto rarely states that he is going to become hokage of that it is still his dream. When he confronted Sasuke for the first time, Sasuke questioned him that all the time he spent looking for him would have been better spent on training to become hokage. To which Naruto responded "How can I even become Hokage if I can't save a single friend? Isn't that right Sasuke?"

He is not a Chuunin because Shikamaru is the only one who got promoted to Chuunin back then.

Sasuke is still out therefore Naruto doesn't care about rank but he is actually a lot smarter than some of you guys make him out to be. He makes very good distractions which is key to a shinobi. It's true that he isn't the most observant but he is quite the strategists if he focuses when he wants or needs to. Naruto should be well past Chunin level possibly Jonin, a little bit more maturing and he would be even more the candidate for Hokage.

You all forget, Naruto has a rank to call his own. He is a Sage now. Compared to the regular ranks, he would be at least a Jonin or higher with his current power.

The reason Shikamaru became a Chunin was because he showed that he had the tactical smarts to lead a group and not get them killed.

exactly, he lost in the Chunin exam but was still made a Chunin unlike Naruto who won his match but did not become Chunin.

You would think Naruto would get promoted by another means like Hokage recommendation at this point. (Technically Shikamaru shouldn't have been promoted because none were supposed to that first exam but Shikamaru got to because many liked his preformance and Sarutobi recommended him for promotion.)

And as to the comments about him being to hot-headed to even be chunin. I would like to direct your attention to the Raikage lol. If the Raikage's mental state is good enough for him to be kage and lead his nation I think Naruto can handle leading genin on missions like lets catch a cat lol.

On a side note could you imagine the other two on the squad if naruto did retake the chunin exams just like O.O the whole time lol.
