We study them to learn more about great culture and because most of the stories told, have many intersting morales. I don't believe they were 100% true, but there is a slght possabilty that they did exsist.

Why because of the names? I believed in them. Arrostotle was the one who taught Alexander the Great. Arrostotle taught him very well because Alexander never lost a battle.

They were just a part of Greek Culture.

If you are referring to Zeus, Hera, Athena, Ares, etc.

I think they were just legends to entertain and to help explain why things worked the way they did; the sun was Apollo's chariot, lightning bolts were the weapons of Zeus, ect.

They're called Myths for a reason. If they weren't fake, wouldn't we learn it throughout our lives such as things like Government? I know too many adults that don't know who Zeus is, therefore, I don't believe that they're in any way real.

You shouldn't use the word learn, more like the word, retain, because in reality, nobody really knows how we came to be.

reading through this thread i lost intelligence.

greek gods..... not real. we cant prove that ONE god is real, imagine trying to prove the many gods that the greeks had? not possible.

gods and goddesses are made up to explain things we dont understand. ie: how the earth got here, how did the universe started, how did we get here, etc etc etc. we dont know this things yet so we invent things, in this instance beings, to make us "forget" the fact that we really do not know the answers. the bad thing about that is that it brings and feeds fanatics that become so obsessed with the god/s, that they even go as far as to kill for their god/s.

i beleive the greek gods, i mean, its a lot more belevable than the earth just popping out of no where and living beings just magically appear there

compare that to: two titans created more titans. the titans tortured the humans.the titan lord, kronos and his wife had the olymians. kronos ate his children so they wouldnt overthrow him. kronos' wife fed kronos a rock when it came to zeus. Zeus grew up, fed kronos something so kronos would throw up his kids. his kids being immortal, grew up inside kronos, and helped overthrow their father. the olymians won and chopped up thier father and threw him into the deepest pits of tartarus. they trapped the other titans somewhere else. Poseidon, Hades and Zeus contrtibuted the most in the war, so they drew draws. poseidon got the sea, hades got the underworld, and zeus got the sky. zeus eventually recreated the earth and created the world we live in now.

i know most that stuff sounds like it came from a story book, but most of the stuff we believe in came from tales and books...ect

dont say we, as if everyone believes in nonsense tales from books written many many years ago by unintelligent beings of the subject.

Kingsnoke points out that modern culture has branded them myths. To the people of Greece they were as real as Yahweh is to people today.
