OLD BOY American version.

I'm excited for the Old Boy American version. People should hush up about it being "unoriginal" because the S. Korean film "Old Boy" was an adaptation of the Japanese comic (manga) "Old Boy". That means the manga came FIRST.

Since the American version is based off of the original manga and NOT the
film people need to stop comparing the two. The S. Korean film is NOTHING
like the original manga except for the VERY basic storyline of "A guy is imprisoned for x amount of years. He wants revenge". Also the resolution
is similar. But other than that it's incredibly different. The protagonist
in the manga doesn't eat a live octopus he eats lots of chinese food.
The protagonist in the manga doesn't use a hammer. He uses his fists.
The protagonist doesn't commit incest. He has the uncanny ability to
deflower virgins by just existing. (Which is why the manga is fiction

)

To give you an idea of just how different the S. Korean film is and the
original Japanese manga look at the protagonists of each one. Then
also take a look at Will Smith and see who actually is more like the
original manga.

American Version of Oldboy based off of manga. Portrayed by Will Smith.

Um. I'm not sure what that means. Is that good or bad?

Personally I think he'll do a good job.

Ok, cool. Same here. Obviously if they can get some buff Japanese guy who speaks English (so people can understand the movie) and can act well then they should pick him. But since I can name no such person Will Smith is a good pick.

The setting will probably be different (maybe New York or something.)
But it's really not gonna change the story that much. Heck they can
still have the eating a lot of Chinese food (he eats a LOT of Chinese
food in the manga.) because Chinese food is rather common in the U.S
