Zetsu: One of the Strongest Akatsuki? May contain spoilers

To sum up what we already know:
Zetsu uses a technique to carry himself through the earth, letting him get from place to place faster than anyone in the Akatsuki except for Madara.
He is a cannibal who eats the important corpses (probably to dispose of vital secrets concerning Akatsuki). He also appears to have known who Madara was from the beginning, which implies that he is Madara's most trusted confident.

White Zetsu can create multiple clones of himself and he uses a spore technique that saps chakra from other ninja. He can also create perfect clones of anyone he's ever touched.
Black Zetsu appears to be the one that records battles.

Now for some theorizing:
Madara has stated that White Zetsu isn't combat oriented, but if he creates perfect clones of anyone he's touched, could he become any member of the Akatsuki, albeit a weaker version? And with his cloning ability, is it possible for him to recreate the entire Akatsuki roster?

And what is the purpose of recording battles? Is it just for playback, or does Zetsu use these recordings to recreate a ninja's fighting style? Finally, if Zetsu creates a perfect clone of anyone that he's touched, does he gain some benefit from eating them?

What do you guys think?

Well, forget all the other ones but recording battles is very useful for him and the akatsuki because he can show the akatsuki how they fight, what kind of jutsu they have, and how to counter these strong jutsu that person has... something like that

Yeah, Zetsu is slowingly starting to show his is powerful. I think he has offensive abilities we just haven't seen yet. That will determine his power ranking in the Akatsuki. Remember that all we have seen of Zetsu has been done by his white half. Zetsu's black half probably has it's own abilities. I can't wait to see what they are.

true. but he could also just be a spy for the akatsuki.

Maybe he's spying on the Akatsuki. Jiraiya had some unknown informant, probably within the Akatsuki. Or do we just assume that his informant was Itachi?
