RULE #1: GRAMMAR

You are typing on a message board. You want people to understand what you are saying. Be sure to use proper sentence structure when you write. Also, be sure you are adding in punctuation and spacing where appropriate. The first letter of every sentence is capitalized. Statements end with periods. Questions end with question marks. There is a space in between sentences. Please also put a paragraph break between thoughts. You don't want to look like a fool, and we do not want you to make us look like idiots for allowing you to post that way!

Outlandish disregard for typing properly is subject to being corrected in red by moderators. This is intended to give people a somewhat-snide little "heads-up" that they agreed to these rules and are expected to type properly. Not every little mistake will be corrected (especially those from our foreign, non-native-English-speaking visitors), but if you find yourself subject to these corrections, it may be time to re-evaluate your posting style (a.k.a. "Seriously... you're above the age of ten and live in suburban America; for goodness sake, use a period!").

We have even typed up a special, if you will, "Grammar Primer" that we encourage all present and new members to check out. Following this style-guide will certainly help you fit in around here... not to mention help your over-all writing! Also, we would greatly appreciate it if you would not post in any colors other than the default black. It just looks childish.

As an amusing addition, here is a special image we swiped from Penny Arcade; it should describe our feelings on the matter of Internet writing quite well...!

IT will also screw some people over because the war system demands well said grammar, and people will be very angry because I'm sure many missed that tidbit.

Anyone agree?

I do support good grammar as well, but something else I'd like to add is that some people just can't help using poor grammar, like my dyslexic brother. (Poor guy can't even spell "proper grammar." >.<")

Well still it's just basic knowledge. Using English should be automatically enforced everywhere, not just on the internet!! Not using it correctly is ridiculous. It makes you look stupid. It makes you look stupid. Being able to know English is elementary...and to not use it how you were told to is ridiculous.

That's why rules are enforced.

Okay then Spanish is elementary so why don't you speak it?

That right there is not good publicity for Viz either. This is a viz owned site after all. And for say that gets out it people will sue viz for having a rule like that (trust me people will sue for a ling like that. One lady sued mickdonald for 10 million dollars for spilling coffee on her. She on the case too.)

English is BASIC. It's what we're taught from BIRTH.
It should always be used correctly.

It deserves to be, entirely. To "Deserve" is to be worthy of.
This proposal is deserving of it, of course.

okay if you think everyone in the world learns English as their first language you are sadly mistaken. Not everyone on this forum learned English as a first language.

I find that highly offensive. I didn't know a zip of english untill 3 years ago. And i'm still working one basic english. So reading between the lines other words you just said

"If you don't know basic english your stupid."

If someone doesn't speak it as a first language-then it should be checked over...and I don't know what supermacist or bigot means. xD

BUT, don't you even say in the War System words should AWLWAYS be said correctly? Shouldn't that apply to more than just the War System!

Not to mention english, mandarin, and arabic are the hardest languages to learn if you are not a native speaker, and as languages go, english makes the least grammatical sense.

Yes, but this entire site is made in English.
This entire forum is 99% spoken in English.

I thought english was easy...
And as far as "passing over" people who don't speak english as a first language... if that is in the rules EVERYONE will claim english is a second language and there is no fair way to check.

The war system is an elective GAME. A GAME based on storytelling. If the judge can't understand you, you only screw yourself over. Elective is not the same as mandatory.

I also think you completely fail to grasp the magnitude of what you are implying AND asking in this request.
