Is so great about living anyway?
Is it just me, or does it seem like the bad moments of life are the only ones that really stay with you? Happiness just doesn't seem like a strong enough emotion to compensate for all the suckage life throws at you... So seriously, what's the point? Often times I just feel like dying would be a relief...

Well, I usually try not to think of all the bad things that happen to me, and think about all the fun times I've had with everyone I love.

Dying doesn't really solve anything, since it just adds more bad times to other people, and it's doesn't make anyone happy.

I live to make the most fun times I can; we don't live forever, and saddening your life with depression and suicidal thoughts-like I said before-don't solve anything, they only make matters worse.

I try to remember the good times too, but the memories of them seem to fade so much quicker than the memories of all the mistakes I've made.

And what would it matter if dying made things worse for others if you wouldn't be around to feel guilty about it?

For one there are plently of good things in life. People focus on the bad things so that they can portray themselves as the innocent victim.

And another thing. When it comes to the problems that most of us on this forum face, they are all fairly trivial. The mere fact that you have access to the internet on a regular basis says that you live a pretty comfortable life. You never have to worry about starving or being tortured. I'm sure if you grew up as Chinese sweat shop worker and came to America you'd have some perspective on just how good a life you are living.

Persective, perspective. I find that when you've lived "comfortably" your whole life, it's near impossible to really grasp the idea of not having those every day things like shelter and food. Even if you see it first hand, most of the time, unless you've been in such a position, you're going to see all the problems in your life and feel as if they're just as bad.
The way I see it, there's two kinds of misfortune; simple misforturtune, and complex misfortune. The simple things are things such as homlessness and poverty. Horribe, yes. But I find that equally difficult are the comples issues that come with sheltered life like failing to live up to expectations, or staying away from temptations that could ruin your life... So decisions I guess are the problems of life with comfort. -You've got a lot more of them then people who live in poverty, but it's so hard to tell which will help and which will make life worse.

The point is that when you have perspective all problems and obstacles become trivial when you have no risk of starvation or poverty. People place more emphasis on the trivial things to add significance to their otherwise sheltered existence.

Maybe it is. Because I can't ever remember having experienced death before, I really can't say.

However, I believe that once I'm dead, I'll be gone for good. With that in mind, being gone for good would mean that I cannot alter my existence, and I have no control. Right now, I at least can choose some very basic things, and I maintain a very, very small amount of what can only be described as, for lack of a better word, control.

And here, I can (for the most part) choose what I want. I might even get it. I don't know about you, but just thinking about such a thing gives me an adrenaline rush!

I might one day be a singer, or an astronaut, or dancer! An architect, a scientist, or an actor! The possibility exists!

And, who knows? Maybe, one day, I'll meet someone toi share the rest of my life with. Maybe i've already met them. Maybe, while standing in a line at McDonalds, a not-so-well-known director or producer will enjoy watching me harrass and mess with the cashier, and he or she might just cast me in their film! Maybe, I'd become famous, and tour the world!

Or maybe that special someone and I will just grow old, never become famous, and die in each others' arms. I can only hope.

Lol, this sounds like a Emo thread, and this is what Toma said, give or take a few words "I hate it when everyone is emo, the only person that I think deserves the right to feel emo is KonanSenpai"

Even though he said that I have never thought of being emo or having death as a relief, I see it as something that takes what we love, and unfortunately everything dies. Just skip the bad parts, keep your mind focused on the good parts, things will be better.

Ignorance is bliss, huh? Well, as I said, it's not the lack of probability that matters to me here, it's the pressence of possibility.

Anyway, I'll need to overcome my motion sickness before I can become an astronaut. Heck, I probably wouldn't want that job anyway.

In any case, I don't see this as denial, more like acceptance. Contentment, I think, is one of many keys to happiness.
