Yes. He is the 3rd hokage.

I think probably the 3rd Hokage cause he is a Kage and would have had more experience than Itachi. Also he knows lots of Jutsu and how to counter genjutsu. Likely he was also physically faster and stronger. But maybe Itachi has the skill.

Hiruzen's Kage level so he might take this one, but if Itachi was in perfect condition and is able to use Susano'o and his other techniques, then I might consider changing my conclusion. ~.~

Itachi would win... but that would be being

prejudiced against Sarutobi because I really

I honestly admit that I think the 3rd Hokage would win, but only by a small fraction. Itachi's power extends pretty far, and it could at least provide some damage -- even though reaching severe damage would be quite easy, I'm sure. Susano'o would be a major factor in there and so would the Hokage's untapped potential. We didn't see all the jutsu the Hokage could possibly possess, but from what we've seen when he fought Orochimaru, he knew quite a bit.

I could easily say that it would be a long battle. Both are skilled opponents that excel at strategy, speed, and power. It would be an interesting battle to see.

I am not sure we know enough about Sarutobi in his prime to be able to decide. If I only go by what we have seen, then I have got to say Itachi for sure. However, if I had to speculate based on Sarutobi's reputation then I think it would be a close one if not completely change the outcome of this battle.
