Kakashi's background

Does anyone know Kakashi's background/history? E.g. where did he get his Sharingan eye?? I saw at Wikipedia that there is a side story ("gaiden") to this, but I've seen all of the Naruto episodes and this was never shown. Anyway, thanks in advance!

the story is in the manga # 27 , but yes he gets it from obito and the girl that was in his team implanted the eye to kakashi ,I think

It's in the manga and they're making an OVA about it..but it's not in any episodes right now.

The manga numbers are weird. Every one quotes the numbers but they never match any of the actual books. E.g. I am looking at Naruto #27 and it is the fight between that mirror guy (Haku) and Sasuke and Naruto, and also between Kakashi and Sakura and that giant sword guy (Zabuza). In fact I just read this - Kakashi _already_ has the sharingan ... and this is Naruto #27.

PS: btw, it's amazing I just said I would be reading the manga but don't b/c I can't afford them ... now I found them ALL!

Are you reading the previews shown in Shonen Jump?

Kakashi already has the Sharingan because Obito gave his eye to him before he died. It is in Manga Volume 27, the Kakashi Gaiden series. In that volume, it goes back to SHOW how Kakashi got the Sharingan, not that he just got it in volume 27.

Oh, and Kakashi Gaiden doesn't appear on the anime.

Oi! You mean the CHAPTERS, not the actual manga that you buy. Each chapter has like 6 pages, so that explains the Zabuza thing. The Kakashi Gaiden is somewhere in the 300's.

The Kakashi Gaiden Arc is in Volume 27 and starts with chapter 246 and is 6 chapters long. I've read this arc sooooooo many times its not even funny.

The Kakashi Gaiden is chapters 239-244 in volume 27 of the manga.

Ok, yes it's only in the manga right now. There's word on the wind that there may be (hopefully) a 'Kakashi Gaiden' movie, but it's not official yet. It is in manga #27, the chapters are from # 239 through #244. The whole story is there. Basically it is Kakashi's first mission as leader. This is before his ANBU days and happens with his first team - The 2nd Hokage, Obito Uchiha, and Rin (not sure what her last name is).

I don't think that Rin had a last name. At least not one that the manga had said. Nothing was ever said what happened to her after Kakashi Gaiden ended. Kakashi said that everyone that was close to him have died. If he means Rin as well, the manga never elaborated on it.

Don't get too excited about the movie...I can't remember who gave me the info, but it's not even out in Japan yet as far as I know...

I understand if you can't help being excited - I am too, though I'm trying really hard not to get my hopes up... not easy though...
