Why'd Kakashi name it Chidori when he was small, but Lightning blade when he is jonin

He was already a jonin when he first used the Chidori. If you read/watched the Kakashi Chronicles it starts off with him after he just became a jonin, then later on in the volume or episode he says he wants to show his new jutsu, the Chidori.....but like everyone else already said, he used it to cut a bolt of lightning in half and it started to be called Lightning Blade.

Someone said in the thread that the Lightning Blade was stronger. I'm curious to know the reasoning for that. Not that I'm questioning whether this is fact or not, I just want to know why?

before the main series kakasi who used chidori named it that since it sounds like a thousand birds raikiri(LB) is actually different its not as blunt as chidori it cuts
thats why when e cut the lightning he named it that
theres also a japanese myth about a samurai that used a sword named chidori and after he cut lightning in half he named it rakiri(LB)

They're almost the same; the same hand signs and basic concept are used. Lightning Cutter is just more concentrated, and thus requires better chakra control. Which is why Sasuke can't use Lightning Cutter XD

becuz there's no point. from wut everyone is saying, LB s more concentrated and therefore stronger, but otherwise the same move which isnt a big improvement. instead he trained to use chidori in different ways and variations to add variety to his attacks and give him more options in battle

I'm going to have to disagree. To me the Chidori is nothing like the Rasengan, both looks and attributes.
I'm not to sure with what you meen by "cuts things" but if you look in the manga, volume 26 chapter 228, Sasuke uses his Chidori on Naruto and it stabs/cuts through his right shoulder. You can see Sasukes hand went completely through, where as the Rasengan never goes completely through its target.
That's all I had time to look up for now, but I'm pretty sure that other times I've seen Sasuke use the Chidori, he'd thrust it foward with his fingers straight. Almost like a spear or some other type of blade.

Lightning Blade, I believe, is a stronger form of Chidori.

He calls it Lightning Blade because he cut a bolt of lightning in half with it in the past.

Chidori is the imperfect verson. Lightning blade is better. The names, Chidori because it sounds like 1000 birds, Lightning Blade from when he cut lightning in half.
