How come other anime fans all look down on Naruto?
I mean I know a bunch of people watch Naruto and other anime but for the ones that watch only other anime how come if they find out you watch Naruto they are like laughing?

I think its either because compared to some other anime Naruto is rather less extreme (ex. less bloody, less sex, cursing, etc.)

And also since Naruto is pretty much the most popular anime on television they are just trying to break away from the group and diss Naurto

I don't know why to be honest. Naruto is my favorite anime.

Maybe it depends on your age, the popular interest of the groups around you. If you're older, then most tend to prefer anime that's more mature or has more romance and all in it. Mentality is a big influence too here.

A lot of girls watch shojou like Vampire Knight too, so if you're a girl that watches Naruto, they don't understand...

This is a large part of it, I think. A lot of people hate it simply because it's popular - I know I did until I actually gave it a chance, and loved it.
Other people complain that the series is drawn-out and over dramatic. I guess this is true in a way, but there are animes out there that are MUCH worse.

Naruto-haters really bother me, too. Why can't the haters just let us fans enjoy it - why does it bother them so much that people actually like the show?

but also if you think about it Naruto has some heavy themes in it that relate to real world events and, physiologically it is a pretty mature show

I think it is because most people have only seen the Original version and thought that a show about ninjas and pervs weren't so good. I know many people who think that.

Exactly! People think by dissing things, it makes them "unique and cool". But really it only makes them idiots and jerks.

I been laughed at for watching and reading Naruto so much, but it doesn't bug me. People just like to be morons and judge before they really understand why the fanbase is so large.

Actually, the biggest reason why others hate Naruto is the fandom and it's fans.


There are a lot of people who give Naruto fans a bad name (These ones are usually called the 'Narutards,' but not all of them. The word Narutard is actually made from Naruto/Retard...), and since these are the only fans of the show they see, it's assumed that most if not all are this way. They give bad name by acting like n00bs and whatnot. Another reason is the yaoi fangirls, who pair up literally every single male and leave the females and those 'unpairable'/ugly like they don't exist. A LOT of the fanbase is composed of yaoi fangirls, and some yuri fanboys, and the yaoi fans are what usually ruin any series for everyone.

People also really, REALLY hate it when people 'typ liek dis n act lyke nruto iz da gretst seres in da wurld.' It really gets on people's nerves because A) They can't understand what the hell the person is saying, and B) It gets said a lot about Naruto being so great, and whenever they try to say that it's not the Naruto fans get up on them and complain and bash them for not loving it. Everyone has their own tastes in shows, and they get annoyed with Naruto fans ALWAYS talk about Naruto this and Naruto that and NEVER shut up about it.

However, it being so popular is still also another reason for the hate. It's also not liked because it's about little 'ninjas' who don't act like real ninjas at all. The Naruto ninjas are far from real ninjas in history, and the style and humor of the series gives the impression that it's for children, such as the early bathroom/fart jokes in the series, which is childish and immature.

I agree about the yaoi/yuri thing. I personally dislike it. And the people who are constantly talking about it are annoying too, even though I like the show I want to talk about other stuff besides Naruto. I hate the weird talk too.

I agree here. It's fun to watch, but has a lot of deep themes like how darkness is but the absence of light. Neji and Gaara were lost in their respective "darkness," but Naruto pulled them out of it. Now, we are waiting to see Naruto pull Sasuke out too (otherwise, big bummer- little kids will lose faith in good)

@Inuyasha Girl: I agree. Older kids want maturity, even some younger kids... it depends on the groups you hang out with. For me, I can't talk about Naruto at school. My anime-loving friends watch bloodier ones. Other people watch TV shows like House- honestly I don't know what that is -_-

edit: Naruto may have been a childish show in the first part of the series, but now it's beginning to mature. Honestly, liking it, hating it, it all depends on what people like. The people who like Naruto typically wouldn't like the shows that are popular with yaoi/yuri fans (yeah, I see a lot of yaoi love items with anime fans at school ) and those who support forbidden romance and blood and gore, so it's natural that a divide will be formed. However, respect should be maintained...

Most of us Naruto Fans are between age 12-16 to say somethig and i think Naruto has enough blood dosnt have any sex so i can wath it with my family and doesnt have cursing when you get older you will want more blood,gore and sex in anime and manga but our age i thik its enough

It's mostly the fanbase that makes people avoid Naruto when some want to give it a chance, and other people just aren't into the whole 'anime' thing. The yuri/yaoi fans are mostly the ones who cause people not to like it. It's ok to be one, I'm a yuri fan myself, but taking every male/female character in the show and pairing them up, then always talking about it/them makes people annoyed with the anime when they've never watched it in the first place.

Like Vocaloid said, it's also because of how some people type and act when talking about it, and also how popular it is.

Another thing I think is/was the immaturity at the beginning of Original Naruto that made some people not like it, and completely tune out all anime, thinking that they're all the same. But some people say, "Oh, but Shippuden is much darker," not every single person who's watched Naruto has gotten to Shipuden; some may have watched a little of Naruto then hated it, never watching it again and never making it to NS.
