Default can anyone help me out here. i am stuck...
ok. i need to find out what kind of BIOS my computer is running. i just bought it, its a Toshiba Tecra a8-s8513. (if u dont know what bios is, i dont think u could help me) thanks!

Ok congrats on buying a computer with an obscure as all heck bios. Support document calls your bios:" ACPI, PNP, VESA, DPMS, DDC, SM BIOS v2.4, PCI BIOS v2.1" see http://cdgenp01.csd.toshiba.com/cont...a_A8-S8513.pdf

I would recommend you just press F1 as soon as the machine powers on, going into bios yourself, and looking for any logos. If that fails power on, hit escape, and watch the system messages to see if it is mentioned.

Hope this helps. Also why do you need to know your bios type?

so i can use the backdoor password. long story short its not mine, well it is now i bought it from a friend thats in the marine corps, it has the biometric password (the one u slide ur finger over and it logs u in) so unless he sends me his finger on air mail i am stuck with a useless cpu. last time i asked him he said he has no recollection of imputing a bios password which he shouldnt have, so now i am looking for the backdoor password.

i am trying to remove cmos battery but all i have is a butterknife to work with so yeah haha

Yeah popping cmos is the best bet.

try this though, use a piece of scotch tape, lay it sticky side down over the fingerprint scanner then lift, now place it back down. Boot pc with scotch tape over the reader, when prompted, run your thumb over the bio reader with the tape still over it. It fools most readers that are cheap. Good luck.
