I only know a few words...
But trust me, it is a HARD language. It has four scripts with hundreds of characters and each of those characters are complex in learning and writing. Not to mention you have to pronounce them with a different script, the Romaji script. Asian languages are pretty much the hardest languages to learn if you were not born in an Asian country and have grown up in it.

I know it.
Whether or not it'll be hard for you depends on your language background. If you only speak latin based languages like English or Spanish, then it'll be significantly harder than if you've a background in Chinese or Korean.

I can speak Japanese pretty fluently. Not 100% though. For myself, the language is not hard at all, due to the fact that I want to learn it. However, if you aren't interested in the language, it will be hard for you to learn it. The writing system is complicated but easy once you get the hang of it. There are three 'alphabets' the make up the Japanese language. They are:
- Hiragana ひらがな - Katakana カタカナ - Kanji 漢字 If you would like to know anything more, just PM me. Quote:

Watashi wa Hockey Otaku. Yonko no isu. Kyou wa nichiyoubi desu. That's about all I know. I only know romaji ^_^" But, I am learning. I think it is ridiculously hard. But that's because I know English and Spanish. And SRhyse is right, learning a bit of Korean helped. To learn I'm using the game My Japanese Coach and the book Breeze Into Japanese by Kazuko Imaeda.

It is easier for people who know either Korean or Chinese, to learn Japanese because all three languages are intertwined.
