The Akatsuki would win I agree that Kakuzu alone could destroy most of not all on his own. I still feel that he was probably the strongest member of the group, he was only taken out by Naruto and his crazy jutsu that if he was to touch anyone with would be whipped off the planet in no time.

I think even if the whole village
have cursed marks on them, still Akatsuki
could simply repel all of those probably only one Akatsuki
is needed ...

Lets see,
Itachi can use sharingan and blast a whole bunch with Katon: Gōkakyu and Ryūka (for those not as savvy with japanese Ryūka is Dragon flame and Gōkakyu is Fireball jutsu).
Deidara has his assortment of explosives.
Sasori has his 100+ puppets.
Konan has her paper.
Kakuzu is SCARY strong and has his threads and the masks.
Hidan can be content being a crazy masochist and go through slicing peoples up.
Kisame can flood the whole place and have his sharkeys eat the rest.
Zetsu can use the Spore thingey.
Madara can kick a$$ because he's Madara.
Pein/Nagato have the Six Paths of Pain

Yea,I think it'd be the Akatsuki and their sheer awsomeness.

The only reason the sound five got killed off was plot. They're abilities were too good. I think they could give some akatskui members a run for there money especially Sakon and Kimmimaro.

Orochimaru is the only one which poses a threat. And even then Hes not gonna do a great deal. Since its not one of the Great Nations,it cant be very strong. I suppose Pein could Just Chibaku Tensei the whole Village :L
