I'll probably get soul silver if I haven't spent all my money on useless Naruto crap that just sits on my shelf. I'm glad they're remaking these games, these were the first Pokemon games I ever played. I still have them too, but they don't fit in my DS and I killed my GBA with my freezer. (Don't ask, apparently GBAs don't like to be turned into popsicles. -_-) Hopefully they make it like the original and don't add all these crappy new pokemon. I don't understand why they have to add 100 new ones every time they make a new game. honestly i can't keep track of them all. Although I hope they length the storyline a little. I always go through these games so quickly that it makes me wonder if it was really worth spending all that money on it.

Hmm? You mean chaining? It's a process that involves using the Key Item the PokeRadar to encounter Pokemon of the same species several times in a row. When you use the Radar, up to 4 patches of grass move, and the #1 rule is to ALWAYS go for the patch that is farthest away from you, the patch of grass that you want will be 4 steps away from you, if one doesn't appear that's 4 steps away, reset the radar. Oh, and the #2 important rule is, whatever way the grass shook for the first encounter that started your chain, all subsequent patches MUST shake the same way.

There's also a lot of other stuff involved to make sure that you keep running into the same species.

I would post a whole guide on how to do this for people who don't know, but it's kinda long...luckily, many people have made guides all over the internet, including YouTube tutorials on how to do it and would probably explain it better than I can. XP

It's a tad complicated at first, but you get the hang of it the more you try. ^.^ I've managed to get 32 shinies using this method so far, my latest one is a Shiny Caterpie! ^.^

There's a guy who got one or both of these games already and one of the starters was a shiny. It was aTotodile, whom, by the way, I will be getting first. I think Totodile was my first pokemon ever. I named him Mono (I have no clue why) and he grew to a Feraligatr and became my first and only level 100 pokemon. ;o

Yeah unless you are patient or have a cheat device you only have 1/8121 chance of seeing a shiny pokemon.

So, I think everyone should post what starter they will be getting, possible teams, why, etc. How about it? =3

Totodile, just because I'm compelled to get him for so many small reasons.

My team is probably going to be Totodile, Umbreon, Charizard, Salamence(or however the heck you spell it) and the other two are open until I decide. I'm probably going to throw in an electric type. Perhaps the last slot will just be my HM slave.

I just really hope these games are going to be more difficult than Diamond/Pearl were. I did no training to my pokemon whatsoever and was able to challenge the Elite 4 and win with pokemon around level 42. That's really sad since my team pretty much sucked.

I also hope they'll be more difficult, especially since I beat Cynthia without ever losing much more than thirty points of damage.
Platinum version wasn't very different from diamond and pearl versions.

I'm going to start with a Treko. I'd like to start with Bulbasuar but I'll just wait till I beat the game to trade one over somehow. I don't really know what my team will consist of yet. I'm one of those people that just go out and catch the first thing and sight in the beginning and then use them throughout the entire game. I don't really worry about filling up the pokedex until after beating the Elite 4. But if I see something that I like along the way I'll catch it, I'm just not going to go out of the way for it.

Seriously, I was at least 10 levels behind everybody and I still kicked their asses with the crappiest of pokemon. I shouldn't be able to do that. I want something challenging or its just gonna find itself back in the box at Gamestop. XD

Umbreon's one of may favorites too. I've breeded the crap out of my poor Eevee that I got in Leaf Green and just keep migrating all the eggs up. XD

I'm starting off SoulSilver with Totodile, it was my starter for my very first Pokemon game Crystal, so I feel like being nostalgic. Through the main game I'll also have probably, Ampharos, Espeon (favorite Eeveelution! ^.^), Noctowl, Lugia, and I'm thinking of trading over one of my baby Charmander on Diamond so I can have Charizard!

For HeartGold I'll use another starter, probably Cyndaquil.

I chain bred for the perfect Umbreon and decided for the first time to EV train a pokemon. After doing all of the HP training, I figure out that I missed a breeding step and that I can't get curse on it. -sad- I'll just deal with it, though.

I hate EV training. It takes so dang long and it's so boring. I'll just stick with normal training. ;P

Gotta love Umbreon! I think he's on my old Crystal file right now, if the battery hasn't died yet...but I also have a Shiny one on Diamond with an annoying moveset! hehehe...

I totally forgot that Cyndaquil was going to be in this game! *facepalm* Oh man, now what am I going to do?! I always start with a grass type (except for Diamond, Turtwig was just ugly and stupid looking) but I love Cyndaquil too. Oh wait, I'll just make an egg, problem solved! *'nother facepalm* I'm so stupid sometimes.........
