correction..he went 8 tails for hinata. But even though it pains me, Sasuke is more important to naruto than hinata. At the moment of course.

I say neither. Naruto is the main character, it's even NAMED after him! And hes the ideal hero, stated by Kishi-sama. Sure Sasuke is important too but hes a rival/brother to Naruto.
