You mean you're signature? There should be an "Edit Signature" link under your user control panel.

Nobody has brought it to my attention but "giveing rep to a person" isn't allowed on the forum which gives me the question why do we have rep? and what can we give or take it for?

Giving rep for no apparent reason and expecting it in return as if it's a trade/deal, is not allowed. That's abusing the rep system. It's used to give your opinion on a post or even as an award in something you won in a contest.
But if you plan to just rep someone because you expect some rep in return, and it turns out as a rep deal, in which both users rep each other just to increase their reputation points, then that's illegal.

This is regarding an infraction an another Quasi gave you, I imagine.

It's the fact that you repped 10 people in a 3 minute span for the sake of unloading rep so you could spread it to a friend again. Since none of those are downreps, I feel like you could probably PM Err and argue the case, and at least get off with a warning. You were spamming rep regardless, and that's against the rules of the system.

Posting in this topic won't help you since this is a technical help topic, so PM Err if you really want to argue the case. However a 3 point infraction is minor, and people have lost all rep privileges for similar instances... so I wouldn't press it.

I've done this since I've been on the forum and when I joined there was no rules against it however I suppose when the reputation system was reset dis rule has changed so what I'm asking you is what I Can give rep 4 and what I Can't give rep 4 since it doesn't say it in da forum rules Dis way I won't have to worry about getting infractions I mean what is a reason to have a rule when it isn't even displayed in the nine tails rules of discussion?

Basically it all comes down to common sense. There really is no rule against what you did outright. You can give rep to any post you want provided it's not abusing the rep system. However, what you did was blatantly spread it without any regards to the post itself. You can't deny that because every rep comment you left was exactly the same, and they were all about 10 seconds apart. In a case like that, yes it is rape.

However if you had varied it up, left a comment for an actual rep-worthy post, or even waited a few minutes in between, it wouldn't have flagged in the system. What you did causes rep inflation, and is the reason the rep system was ruined in the first place and we had to reset it. But since you just chose 10 posts at random and copy pasted the same comment, that was considered rep spamming, and yes that is unfortunately against the rules of the rep system

Your comment was "Need to offload some rep so I can rep again", so you even spelled out that the rep wasn't for their post, but for the purpose of repping a friend... which is perfectly fine, however, be a little less obvious about your rep spreading next time and Err won't come after you.

Unfortunately for you, Err's biggest pet peeve is rep abuse. But like I said, posting about it here won't help you. This isn't a complaint section, so I ask that if you have anymore issues, take it up with him.

If I could make a list of every, dumb, naive, tricky, ignorant, mean, mean spirited, or ridiculous thing a human being is capable of doing, and post it in the rules... I would, and it would be millions of pages long.

Custom infractions exist so that people can be warned or punished for doing things outside of normal "bad behavior."

A good rule of thumb is that if you are getting infracted for something, you probably shouldn't be doing it.

Learn when to stop arguing a cause. This is for Technical Help, it doesn't involve your complaining. The forum rules is a short, to the point list of things not to do.

I told you to stop posting twice already, and 3 Admins have addressed your comments. Toma explained that we aren't going to add a rule for every single punishable offense on the forum.

Your post doesn't even really make sense, and at this point you're just arguing for the sake of trying to get a rise out of people. So since you chose to argue your infraction and not drop it, after several answers, you earned yourself yet another.

Once again, This is a topic to help people have questions about the forum answered, not a topic for you to cry about your infraction. Don't spam rep, simple solution. Continue posting, and there will be problems.
