Does that mean that they dislike you or something or they disagree with a comment you made? Just curious.

Negative reputation is usually given when somebody disapproves of what you have conveyed. It could be a general reason or just that specific post. The system SHOULD be used to give feedback on a post but it is often used incorrectly. Especially with neg rep.

Pretty much, disapprove your post with a following comment that helps explain why that user disapproves your post. Normally, they would leave a reason as of why they disapprove, but some may leave comments that aren't reasons, but rather un-needed insults.
