Immortality

My perception of immortality was changed forever when I saw this video:

It is John Wick (the guy who made the role playing games Legend of the 5 Rings, 7 Seas and Houses of the Blooded) talking about dealing with an immortal character in a tabletop role playing game. It's ten minutes but a great watch. The first minute is weird at first but tolerate it. It's a little intense for our younger members but wel within the site rules.

guess what? i kinda believe in GOD too. if you call it God...a superior being for me (that's how i call it). its kinda hard and long to tell...maybe a new thread...or hop to the other thread that say something about it...

All mystery topic are always long to explain and hard to see the truth, in less there are well written evidence to it.

I think it's good, with everything advancing in our world, you get to see some of the worlds problems be resolved, not to mention all the cool new technology.

You may well have just doomed many dnd, and other roleplay groups to a sad fate by allowing me to get to this man's page. I know just the person to subject first... I thank you for this most interesting campaign settings, and the other videos I'm in process of watching.

I wouldn't want to be immortal. I couldn't stand the pain of having everyone I care about die, while I keep living. Living forever would mean seeing thousands of people you care about die, and I couldn't take that.

Immortality is the greatest gift that could ever happen to someone, you decieve time itself. Sure all of you loved ones will die, but time heals all wounds. The only time that it would suck to be immortal is if you're paralyzed or something, then you would pray for death every day.

Being immortal would be a great thing, you do not have to worry about your expiration date or your speed in which you take life on. It would be so nice to think what you wanna do for a hundred years and then take a hundred more to plan it out to perfection and then take 100 more to make it happen. You would not have fears of dying so you would do things that others cannot: Study dangerous situations (actually put yourself in them), give science a helping hand in curing diseases by letting yourself be infected, start your own religion as the one and only true master of it. In the other hand,

You would have seen all of your peers die before you. Mom, dad, brother and sister gone before you. Your love one, dead before you. Your son and daughters gone before you. Your son's sons gone in front of you. And after years and years of sorrows you fall in love again and repeat the cycle, and this does not stop. Never. You see all the atrocities that man does to each other. You see what happens to the Earth after men destroys it and all of the ecosystem with it. You wait patiently to see change but change never happens to humanity and you grow sad and your sorrows cannot end since you are immortal. And millions of years go by and many more species come and go and humans disappear from the Earth and a new "man" is born but this is not man anymore this is a "mutant" in your eyes and in their eyes you are a "mutant" and they put you in a Cell and study you and mistreat you because you are different for hundreds and hundreds of years until tolerance is build up and you are freed to go. You retreat to live your eternal life in a remote area and you wait........ and nothing happens. The only good thing is that the world will end in about a billion years, so it is almost "Armageddon". What is a billion years for you? and you wait....... and the billion years get here and the world is about to cease to exist and then you wonder, "would my life end or will i keep going in the flow of the universe as energy? flowing endlessly throughout time...."


edit: the rules of death do not comply to an immortal, they cannot die from bullet wounds, brain damage or anything that would kill a man or a woman or even a planet. They will always live on even if they do not have a body. but you start as a body and whatever happens to the body during those millions of years get's rebuilt by your super ability to cure yourself. You dont do it in purpose your body does. think of it as the girl from code geass. the one with the green hair but without her limitation.

I'd only want to be immortal if all my friends, my family, their friends, and their families, etc, etc, where also immortal.

Otherwise, I'd be engulfed in sadness. Immortality would be a curse.

Otherwise, nope, death for me.

True, but if it is true immortality then those 6+ billion people will die off along with the next generation and next, until --like you said in your original post-- everyone dies off.
