Why do people act so obsessed with changing the opinions of people? They HAVE to force them to believe what they believe or they're just not happy.

Im not knocking people who do it, because I sometimes have to do it myself. I love debating. I love proving people wrong. And its not right at all....I shouldnt force my opinion on somebody, but we all do it anyway.

Why?

Because we truly believe our way is right and we feel others should feel the same way, that is the only answer I can think of, but it is completely personal.

Debating and forcing your opinion on someone are two different things. You need to learn how to differentiate between someone sharing what they believe, from them forcing you to believe it. I imagine if you traveled to China where the gov't tells you what to think and what to believe you'd finally understand.

I debate, because it's fun. Just like you, I like proving people wrong. I don't care if people believe something differently than what I believe but I do care if someone denies what I believe when they don't even bother to try and understand it.

I totally agree.

We always think our actions are right and others are wrong, you see your opinion one way and force people to look that way, until you realize there are more points of views to look at rather than yours.

I like to debate because it's fun to see different people's opinions. It doesn't matter whether I'm right or wrong, as long as I give it my all. I normally have such a quiet voice, debating makes me feel...really strong.

Debating and forcing is quite different. In a debate you can do it for fun and it's usually your opinions not to be forced for other to believe in. So my point is debating is opinions that you express to others, Yes it does trigger in people to believe in your opinion but we aren't forcing them to change their decisions, they just see that the person opinion are accurate.

That's a good point. Any person, with enough effort and a touch of skill, can make their voice heard through the medium of debate.

Maybe it's a lot less about proving whose right and whose wrong, and a lot more simply being heard, and knowing that your input might actually make a difference in the way someone thinks.

i have thought about this a lot. and i never get to a real conclusion, besides the fact that i like debating nothing else comes to my mind on why i state opinions.

i know, but i still dont know the reason behind it. which is the main thing in this debate, the "WHY" we do it. something that i do not know. one of this days i just wanna keep my opinions to myself for a whole year to see what happens. that would be a monumental task tho.

humans...we are all just humans tryin' to prove a point...

each one views life/the world differently. each has this hunger for a life/world that is "perfect" as they see it or wanted it to be. and each tries to fit each and every character in their world from their point of view. as to what they see is right. so what happens if something they see seemed to be an anomaly to their world...debates (with thyself and the anomaly)? push to fit as they wanted it to be? concur, as it will make their own world seemed better? ignore? or delete that anomaly?
oh well...this is just an opinion of mine.

I think it is because alot of us think its black or its white ( my way or the wrong way ) and there is no grey. So of course anyone who thinks this way about a topic is going to be passionate about changing the other's way of thinking.
