This thread seems unsuccessful..it's turning into another religious 'debate' thread. Which is perfectly fine, I'm just saying it's not what the original poster intended.

I always stay out of those threads, personally. People will challenge anything you say, and, from my experience, the really rude ones will continue to belittle you even if you cease speaking about your religion and ask them to just drop it. Basically, what I'm saying is religion is a very highly debated topic and people get extremely serious and in to it. Anyone who's not up for a debate like this should stay away from any religion-based threads.

Just my two cents. Forgive any stupid things I said, I'm tired and have a headache, so I'm not thinking so clearly.

There is a pretty side to religion though as well...once you get past all the bias and prejudice that is the "church"

Religion can do amazing things, not just cause wars and petty human conflicts. Religion is the ultimate reflection of humanity's capability for love and compassion. It is us reaching out, as a small and weak child, for the love of a parent, or the love of our fellow man as it may be.

It is the concept of "church", of the infallible body which must be obeyed and adhered to, that keeps us apart, separate, and leads to conflict. Religion in itself, in its purist form, is a beautiful thing.

And by religion I do not necessarily mean belief in god.

Meh screw religion...I believe in God but I don't practice a religion I think alot of it is kinda messed up...And it kinda hurts me when I read the bible so. I believe happiness is the main goal in life.

Wrong. Knowing about somehting and experiencing it are two different things. I know what a tornado is. I know it is made up of very high winds, and that it is very dangerous. I don't have to experience a tornado to have more than a vague idea. Check mate.

Hehe...Definitely not guilty of debating religion at all. xD I'm sorry, but this (and sasuke-kun and love) just happens to be one of my favorite topics of debate ever. ^^

Please no one take offense from my over-zealous hunger for a good argument, yes? ^^

That's not true at all...I'm very faithful to what you might loosely define as my "religion", yet I do not at all think it's the only way. I will stick with it, but that doesn't mean I doubt anyone else's personal path.

i try to come to them, i like debating things like this, lets me reminesce, and gives me somethin' to do on these ever more dieing forums

The problem is, is that life is just one long process of dying. We go to school so we can get a job, we get a job so we can retire, and we retire so we can prepare for death. Even a person who is trying to have as much fun as possible, knows death is unavoidable. Death is an important part of life.

i didnt mean to say everyone (i think i came across that way xD) i just meant most, like me for example... i will always firmly belive until i die my faith is the way.... but if people dont belive the same way i do, then i shrug and go on my way, they belive in their way, and i respect that ^_^

Well according to the bible there is only one sexuality that is right which would be correct...You are straying from religion to random peoples views..I don't get you...I'm glad you think that way tho.

Exactly. A person doesn't need a "church" or any organized religion to have their god and their happiness.

Could you honestly say you know the fear of what it is to be in a tornado from having only read about it? Could you know what it would feel like to hear the wind ripping at your house, to walk outside and see everything destroyed? Could you know the terror as you held your family to you while everything you had ever worked for was blown to pieces above you? Could you know the despair of hearing you life destroyed, the determination of rebuilding and picking up the pieces?

I know I couldn't, having never experienced something like that. I couldn't begin to imagine what that would feel like.

There is a HUGE, incalculable difference between "knowing" and "experiencing".

Because you can't "know" emotion.

Religion isn't an emotion or abstract though, so it doesn't apply to the situation you provided. If I wanted to understand the emotions involved with a certain religion, I'd have to do more than experience it, I'd have to practice it. Once again check mate.

but the afterlife is eternal, id rather be prepared to go the place i want to, and be eternally happy, than live a few short years on earth happily, which some of the things.. could doom me for eternity *referring to my religion, you may not believe that ^_^*
