I agree, love is just chemicals. But so is everything else. So, why bother with anything. I "love" to watch naruto. The day will perhaps come when I don't "love" to watch naruto anymore, but there will still have been that period during which I "loved" to do so.

Hey, I know where you're coming from, believe me, but life is such a sad monopoly, a terror without jaws, if you don't have the capacity to indulge in that connection. Fact is, you have it. You just choose not to, and I respect that. I could pick apart your arguement, peice by peice, and analyze it, but what good would it do me?

Everyone is different, yet I still haven't found "her". So? I can think, I can dream, and that's all I need until she shows up. I could wait my entire life, and die without love, and still be a happy man. And it's because I'd know that I was open, that I at least tried.

You say you met one happily married couple, together for 40 years. I've met at least a hundred couples like that. Do not despair, because when it comes to love, sometimes you win, and sometimes you lose. It's a cruel game, with no referee.

We may be deluding ourselves, but if love is an illusion, its still the best dang thing out there. Because love isn't just intimacy. Love includes friendship, brotherhood, and these are worth too much for me to give up.

Perhaps you and I have a different idea of what love really is. Happily married even. Perhaps just being together is happily married to you, but there's more to it then that. Its the way people look at eachother. Its the way the lover stares deeply into her partner's eyes like they are the world, their sun, the very air they breathe.

Ive seen it once. Thats the only thing that makes me wonder, maybe it does exist? I really wish it does, I do. But I cant find it. Ive went on at least 20 dates since my emotional failure, and not had a connection with a single one of the girls. Nothing at all. It ended on the doorstep.

You cannot compare love and money. The things are not of the same level at all.

I would never walk through fire, a worldly thing, for any amount of money, a worldly gain. Love, however, is different. It doesn't exist on the plane of concrete and worldly. It is above that, beyond it. It is on the level of faith and god, hope and human kindness. It is something that is worth the journey attaining.

If there is no journey of trials and pains, then what is the point of the destination? It is meaningless without the quest to find it.

I'm not sure I totally understood that first bit. Did you mean that love is coupled with despair? It certainly is, yet love and despair are coupled with life. You can't avoid them, though I can, on some level, see why you would want to.

That last sentence in the second paragraph, that is what I think love is. Word for word. Her world must be yours, the flowery compassion and the brittle ice of love and despair.

The only thing you need to do, is keep trying. Stop every now and then, but persevere.

From what you said there, it seems like you have a pretty good idea what you're tallking about.

You gotta understand, when I said that line....Its something Ive seen one time, and something I truly dont believe in. I think those two were just so lucky to find someone they have perfect compatibility with. It was a luck of a draw. They value eachother so much, that it creates a sense of "Love". But it has nothing to do with that. Its an addiction, an attachment. Nothing more.

Ive had people claim to love me. My parents claimed it, but that didnt stop them from kicking me out on the streets at 15. My girlfriends have said it, but that didnt stop them from getting drunk and cheating on me. Love is just a word, its nothing more than a temporary feeling of attachment. Im not capable of it. Plain and simple.
