Just think about it. What would be more OP than a fruit user manipulating water.
Yes, it's contradictory to the manga, but you never know.
One either has it or has eaten it.

Yes, being as Haki seems to resist the affects of the water curse, I think it'd be possible. Though personally I'd expect a fruit that could control water (Paramecia) before a Logia, allowing one to not have to touch water, I think both are equally as possible. And I predict at least one water based fruit will appear before the end.

Yeah. IMO, that would a really awesome fruit.
Aokiji uses Ice. Ice = water
So I don't see how basic water wouldn't be possible.

I never realized it,but akoki freezing the ocean should still make him a vegitable since its still the ocean.

It's one of the few, it's just one piece plotholes.
