MS: Hatred Sasuke hates Konoha NOT DESPISES
Sharingan: Beginning of Hatred

Considering the higher the Sharingan, the more they hate.

That could be the reason why Madara and Sasuke have so much hatred. However Madara's over Sasukes by a landslide.

However once they start feeling love again triggered by something they no longer have hatred.

This triggered by something at least Sasuke's case is learning about the distant past of the Uchiha, the true intentions.

That sounds good, but what about Itachi? I do understand that Obito got hatered from seeing rins death so that triggered his MS that seems to last forever >_>

Regarding Obito, maybe he got it because he HATED Rin's death?

With Itachi, maybe because he hated war and everything he's been through?

There's not really a reason behinds Itachi's MS.

There USED to be, but Shisui killed himself.

Nice!!! It really sums up what the Uchiha Clan are and what happens when they lightened from their hatred up, their Sharingans lower in power. Poor Uchiha Clan. They suffered a lot.

Sasuke unlocked his during the Uchiha massacre right? (As he went after Itachi, who then used genjutsu on him to erase his memory..right?)

So when he gain the level 2, during the fight against Haku..what caused that? Just the sense of despair? Or is it possible that his concern for Naruto caused it, which could mean that strong positive feelings also can unlock power. Perhaps..or maybe I just have it all wrong.

Sasuke unlocked the third weel with Naruto and the other two who knows.

Untrue!...he had just normal black eyes before going straight to MS...His switch to MS is by choice...it's not that he's unable to go back to EMS.

This' interesting! but you make it seem as though, they don't have the love now... They always love, that's why there's meaning in losing what they loved. if they didn't love anymore, then losing something they didn't love to begin with wouldn't trigger any change...

remember when sasuke fought danzo, each time he thought about itachi whom he loves, his susanoo got stronger. If itachi was still alive, although sasuke may love his the same, wouldn't affect his sharingan's strength but the fact that he lost him (which builds the hatred of loss) is what makes the trigger.

even if so, i doubt losing that hatred will cause them the lost of their sharingan... once it's awaken, there's no putting it to sleep though, though it's power in current form could vary depending on hate or love.

I like this theory overall... it'd be interesting if sasuke realizes that his power was dwindling because of the lost of his hate and decides to just go rampage for no reason, just in order to beat naruto...that is if this theory is true

If this theory is correct then why there was no change in the case of Itachi...he loved the village, Sasuke, Shisui...

@ sir michael: for Itachi, I think initially his powers could have boosted up because he hated the uchiha way of thinking... this was shown in the flashback when these uchiha bunch accuse him of killing shisui...
