Alexander The Great vs Xerxes of the Persian Empire

Alexander the Great's Armour

Chalcidian Helmet: The domed helmet made to deflect any type of blow
Bronze Cuirass: The effecient armour when it comes to taking down the enemy
Hoplon: One of the greatest shields in existance, it was a favorite of Greeks from all time periods

Xerxes' Armour

Spangemhelm: The helmet of officers made to save officials with its muliple layers
Bronze Scales: The fish-like protection focused on making the sword glide down the side of it

Gerron: The wiker/bronze shield made for protecting massive areas of the body

Alexander the Great's Tactics

Phalanx Formation: Used when wanted to first take out the enemy chariots

Alexander the Great's Battle

Gaugamella: a decisive win over Persian forces which lead the way for the empires expansion

Xerxes' Tactics

Human Wave Attack: Soldier after soldier after soldier, being replaced over and over until it looks never ending

Xerxes' Battle

Thermopylae: The last stand of the spartans in which the Persians decimiated the force in 3 days.

Alexander the Great had an army of 47,000 elite soldiers, including 31,000 hoplites, 9,000 peltasts and 7,000 cavalry. All of his soldiers were far superior to his Persian counterparts, which was proven in the battle of Gaugamela when they defeated a Persian force of more than 100,000 soldiers. This was an easy victory over Persia in 331 BC, while the battle of Thermopylae was fought in 480 BC (that means that Xerxes' troops are 150 years behind Alexander's common opposition). The Persian army at Thermopylae consisted of 300,000 soldiers, which is only three times greater than the force at Gaugamela. Alexander may suffer three times greater casualties than he did at Gaugamela, but he will definitely win in the end.

Final conclusion: Alexander the Great wins.

But I am asking about not the persians but Xerxes command and stlye.

Disciplined formations will always beat human waves tactics. And with such a great difference in soldier quality, there is no way for Xerxes to win. Besides that, I don't even think he could win in individual combat since Alexander was a warrior king who personally commanded his soldiers in the frontline, being the first to fight and the last to stand and counting numerous kills by his own hands. Xerxes has no such battle feats, and thus he cannot be compared to Alexander in a single duel either.

There is a reason why Alexander could conquer all of Persia in a few years; even when Persia was 150 years more advanced than it was under Xerxes.

Even thought I am for Alexander allthe way, but Guerilla could win, it is ment to beat bigger and stronger forces.
