You know, that always bothered me! He beat Neji, he beat Gara and saved the village...but, no Chunin for you!....seriously? I just don't get that! I mean he was able to beat Gaara in his fully transformed mode, and even The one tail! what else should he have had to do? oh and lets not forget beat pain 7 times lol!

Kishi has been setting up Naruto as Hokage since the Chuunin Exams.
"I'll never go back on my word."
"I'll become Hokage even if it means being a Genin forever."

Same applies for Minato, he never was a Chuunin either according to Kishi.

I believe it's possible for someone to become Hokage from being a Genin. To be honest, I would imagine if Naruto was already a chunin. But at the rate we are going he should have been already a Jonin by now if kishi wanted to. But if the ninja world was real, I think they will go everything by rank.

NOT ONLY THAT!

He mastered the Rasengan, and formed completely new Jutsu. Seems worthy enough. He mastered Sage art. Worthy enough. He beat Pain and saved the village. More than worthy. He clearly deserves to be Chunin

*spoiler* During the fight against madara kishi seriously injured tsunade.She was cut in half(indicating she is going to be killed or close to it)And once she is dead naruto will become the 6th hokage

He doesn't actually need any of those level titles. They're mostly used to denote experience/teaching capabilities and what the village could charge people for missions. Completely irrelevant for Naruto since hes such a unique case. Heck, before, regardless of what his skill level was, there were some that didn't even want him to leave the village. Now that he's so renowned, it wouldn't matter if he was technically a jonin or any other title except Hokage.

Honestly though, if we think about it! Naruto is like Jiraiya in the sense that he will never be known as a Jonin, Chunin etc...Likely he will always be known as a legendary ninja who achieved greatness! or as the Mountain Toad Sage, taking the place of Jiraiya...

With his ability as the Jinchuriki, he will likely be known simply as the Sage of Six Paths, which will now clearly define him post war.

I think its been shown over the series that he has become bright! he's not a genius in the sense of battle strategy, however since he's developed his new jutsu, learned Sage mode, etc...even since his fight with Kakuzu, we saw his intellectual battle strategy development! so its not so far fetched (Tsunade doesn't really seam to posses much rational sense either, and she is Hokage).
