The Swedish dream depends on who you ask... some would say that it is like we were before the Moderate party came into power; when Sweden was the world's most democratic country and had Europe's most developed welfare system... some would say that it is the land itself; our high mountains covered in white snow, cold winds rolling across large lakes and endless meadows, our deep forests where fairies dance in the night... and others would say that our dream is what once was; when our armies marched throughout all of Europe to defend the kingdom of the North...

To me, all these things are important. Sweden is one of the western world's most developed countries when it comes to social welfare and human equality, our nature is enormous and untouched compared to that of other industrialized countries, and once upon a time we were an empire feared across the entire civilized world...

I love my country. Not the government, of course (doesn't all youth hate their governments today?), but the country itself. Because I see Sweden for what it truly is: a place of deep forests, high mountains, meadows and lakes, rivers and plains, where animals of all kinds can live in peace and the humans can be at peace with their surroundings.
