BG Convo #67: Sleep is for the Weak

While we were in the computer lab no less, my middle school social studies teacher threw a chair at a girl for whispering and probably would've hit her in the head if she hadn't moved. The principal refused to do anything about it because the teacher had a contract, which somehow made him immune to assault charges. Not that the principal had a reason to care since he was leaving at the end of the year anyways (which was coming up), so it wasn't going to be his problem.

The teacher did have to avoid interacting with any of the other teachers, though, cause they didn't take too kindly to the incident. He ended up "resigning" during the next year because I think all the other teachers had assumed that he was going to quit over the summer (regardless of his contract), so they didn't appreciate him coming back and made the place somewhat.....hostile for him shall we say. Of course, he ended up getting hired at another school, so it was whatever.

the students parents have the right to press such charges- regardless of what the principle did or didn't do

and honestly they had every right to sue to the school over it if the principle didn't do that

They could sue the school all they want, there'd be no money in it, though, that place is so far into debt. They would just be paying thousands of dollars in court fees and such and never get anything back. The only way they'd be able to scrape up that kind of money is by firing multiple teachers, and it obviously wasn't going to be the teacher responsible, so nobody wanted that. And on top of that, she wasn't actually hit, so the only thing she could try for is emotional damage, which is always iffy, especially when you weren't really emotionally damaged.

Besides, suing people isn't really the way things are handled down there. We tend to take more personal measures out in that part of the country. Really, having an entire town of old ladies mad at you makes it pretty hard to live. For example, he had to drive almost an hour to the nearest store or restaurant that would serve him.

oh I'm, not objecting to handling it personally just saying they could have tossed that twit in jail

actually she could probably go for negligence..but then again her parents were the ones who should have press charged

It was during a meet. He was running to follow his team to see how they were doing. He had some sort of genetic heart condition, so it was always possible for it just to go out.
